At least Newegg ships PC components in a box. Amazon shipped my motherboard with no box and left it in the rain with no bag on it.

Never had that and I've been buying PC parts from them for about a decade now. Cheap parts up to 1500 dollar GPUs.

Make sure the seller is Amazon and not some bum in the woods

Shipped and sold by Amazon. Nothing is like it was in the past. All I know is the parts I bought this month from BH and Amazon this month showed up with no box, and were left in pouring rain and got soaked. I returned the Amazon motherboard. BH was a PC case so I don't expect that to be in a box.

Newegg shipped the CPU and motherboard in a box with bubble wrap.

I just bought a Dark Hero motherboard from them in December 2020. I feel like maybe Amazon wronged you once and you're making this up. I'm sorry for your Amazon struggles but there's no way they would ship a motherboard without a box. Maybe if it's a 30 dollar motherboard I guess?

Two questions...
Is that shipped by Amazon or third party using Amazon to sell things? Never once seen an official Amazon shipping sticker look like that.

Also if from the official Amazon, they offer a check box you can check to use Amazon shipping box upon checkout, did you bother with this option?

EDIT - Upon closer inspection, that is not Amazon shipping. That is a third party using the Amazon website to sell their product. Amazon does not use USPS shipping.
EDIT 2 - There seems to be some folks still getting USPS shipments at their area, although I haven't in a while looks like they still use USPS. In that case, I'd refer back to my second question to secure your packages. Third party senders won't have that option though from what I can tell.

Amazon uses everybody except for FedEx. Even if Amazon wronged this guy once, who the F cares? They ship millions of packages every day and 99.999% of them are issue free.

I've had Amazon ship RAM in a bubble mailer and an nvme drive shipped in a plastic envelope. Other times they pad things like crazy in a box which seems like overkill. Definitely not consistent for me.

I do believe Amazon tells you before you buy, if the product will not be placed in a box. Like when I bought my Breville oven. They just slapped a sticker on that. But that would be beyond lazy to get a motherboard that wasn't boxed up.
