Brand new set from Dewalt. Normally $80, now $60. Acme also has it on sale for $70 (normally $80) but adds shipping ($6.50 for me).
Yup, there are other Dewalt socket set options out there at a lower price. But for a few bucks more you get the Toughsystem 2.0 tray and organizer. Mostly, this will appeal to those who have bought into the Toughsystem 2.0 boxes, and that's where the value comes in. For me, I put this into a drawer in my roller tool chest, with the option of tossing it into a Toughsystem box when I need to go mobile.
Currently, Dewalt is offering three sets in this style: This
3/8 drive 37 piece set [dewalt.com], a
131 piece 1/4 and 3/8 drive set [dewalt.com], and a
85 pc. 1/2 and 3/8 drive set [dewalt.com]. This OP set is the only one on offer right now.

I think the case is a main attraction. I couldn't figure out how it's ToughSystem. Then I see from a picture that this is like a tray to drop into the top of a larger ToughSystem tool box. Then it's like a top tray for tools but instead it's a removable socket set in a case that drops into the same place a tray would fit. Can someone confirm this is how this would be used?

edit: kinda strange but there are no dividers for the trays if you have jus the tray but there are notches to fit dividers. i had to make my own dividers out of left over stock steel plate. worked out great cuz no flex on my dividers but not every1 is jus going to have flat plate laying around like i did
As I wrote in the description above, this won't appeal to everyone. Primary target is Toughsystem 2.0 users. As for the "deal" component, it's 25% off the regular price and 40% less than MSRP.
Off the topic: These deep and shallow trays are really well designed. I had them shelved in toughsystem 2 large and rolling boxes for storing accessories on top of respective tool, as well as stacked in the packout large box, i.e. deep for tool + shallow for accessories. These trays fits nicely in both box systems and are flexible to swap. The only drawback is a portion of ~1" wide "dead" space around the tray.
