Cartoons aren't my thing anymore sadly; I need to get me some grandkids to watch stuff like this with.

Respectfully, you should rethink this.

This movie -- though it includes both live action (real people) and animated characters -- is very, very much an adult story, and includes some damn interesting & funny characters and cool plot twists. I've seen a lot of movies in my (old) age, and this remains one of my rewatchable favorites to this day.

And critics agree [rottentomatoes.com] about this movie's awesomeness.

(You're absolutely right about how this was insanely revolutionary in its day, though!)

Just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean you have to be a kid to watch it. This is not really a kids movie anyway
