Let's be real here people and not kid ourselves once things get stacked on this it's never going to get folded!
Good option, but maybe a different use. The fold down ones are to conserve space in a garage or basement.
Some useful reviews there. "I can only securely put lightweight items in the drawers due to pressboard bottoms. The drawers are deep enough to fit tape measures, levels, rasps, files, chisels, extension cords, tape, hacksaw, and parts. Most of our electrical tools are too heavy for this weight of pressboard to support. "
Walmart is also laminated bamboo, while HD's is rubber wood

A lot of the Ikea bamboo table tops are actually just particleboard with a bamboo veneer. They tout the bamboo as a renewable material, and then slice off a sliver of it and glue it to particleboard. Tells you all you need to know about their commitment to the environment, lol.
Could this be mounted upside down and still retain weight bearing? I envision this in my laundry room above the dryer for folded clothes and doing it this way would allow the table to cover the mounting brackets when not in use.

Wall-mounted cabinets and tables are great because they free up floor space underneath. It makes everything less busy looking visually and allows easy, fast cleaning of the floor because there's no obstruction. The fold-down element is just a bonus.

i too have long searched for one that unfolds down from above. no doubt it would be a bigger strain on the folding brackets, but that way i can install a table a lot closer to the floor (like for a kid's play table). the problem with folding up from below, is it has to be installed at a height at least the depth of the table. so if i want a play table for my wee kids at 24" off the ground, it would have to be 23" or less deep, which is not so great. having the table fold down from above removes that constraint.
i've only seen a strong table/bench that folds downward once. these benches (pic attached) were on howard street in san francisco. i could never find where they got their hinge brackets from...
This does go on sale from time to time on HD for about $75. I feel more comfortable buying from HD. Walmart customer support in my experience has been 1/10.

The second version looks like it would be more sturdy for a workbench.

One is a desk that I work on 9 hours a day and the other is for folding laundry. Very solid if you use real lag screws into studs.
