Try carrying it in your pocket, you'll find dozens of uses for it once you get used to having it. I use my flipper to open packages and envelopes, pry things apart, cut loose threads in clothing, clean my fingernails, and on and on. That's just the everyday stuff. There's also the self defense element. It's just useful for most any human to have a sharp piece of strong steel on their person. It's the most basic and useful tool there is.

Kind of surprised the 940 is still so popular to be honest. I had one and was not a huge fan. The blade shape also strikes me as a bit out of proportion. And I have a lot of Benchmades.

I have been regularly carrying a Bugout 535 for a while now and it is fantastic. Deep carry, great blade profile, super light weight. S30V blade as well.

My every day carry is a standard 940, and it's awesome. The blade is a little longer than I need, but the folded package is very compact and fits great in my pocket. I've also got a Spyderco Parma 3 SPY27 which I love but in truth, the blade is a little too fat for things like coring an apple so in my opinion it's not as useful. Mind you, we are splitting hairs regarding usefulness of different knives, but overall, the 940 is hard to beat.

Have the original 940 and bugout. BM makes quality stuff. Had to slightly adjust the screw to get the action smoother and more flickable. This is a great deal for BM and if you care about the things that make this knife better and different (made in USA, original design, CS and warranty support) than cheaper knives.

I have this knife. Didn't warm up to it. Still deciding if I should sell it or gift it to a family member.

I posted the Bugout deal last year. This is even better! I thought these were a limited run that sold out in January, but I guess Blade HQ did a restock. The Benchmade DLC coating isn't great. The action and centering on the coated blades isn't nearly as smooth as the uncoated versions. This model also doesn't fit my hand super well. It's a little too long and thin for me. The mini actually feels a lot nicer to me.
Bugout deal was better. I love my bugouts. They just fit and feel right for me.

Have this knife with carbon scales. Great looking knife and engineering. But, I don't take it out much since expensive and easy to lose.

But, for everyday utility, my most used blades are my $13 Milwaukee fast back utility knife, Spyderco santoku, Spyderco 6.5" serrated kitchen and my morakniv stainless utility. Those are my work horses and never needed anything beyond those.
