How many wireless clients will it handle? Can't find the answer going through the TP-Link Website, spec sheets and FAQs.

It's tempting, but I have to remind myself that paying a low amount of money on a router is not worth it if that router company doesn't update security holes constantly and worst of all, have products that constantly drop connections, restart, etc. Unfortunately I've had terrible luck with TP link routers. I'd love to pay this much for an ASUS AX router.

It's good if you're cheap. 😂

My friend has been using a TP Link router for a little over a year now with no complaints. I haven't researched this model yet though. There might be a good reason why it's on sale.

The AX1500 is a cheaper Wal-Mart exclusive version of the AX10, with the main difference being that the Wal-Mart version is missing support for TP-Link's OneMesh.

The AX10/AX1500 are at the bottom of TP-Link's WiFi 6 product stack. The notable sacrifice here is that WiFi 6 is supported only on the 5GHz band--the 2.4GHz band is still operating as WiFi 4. One of the features touted for WiFi 6 is that it finally updated the legacy 2.4GHz band (WiFi 5 was exclusive to 5GHz and the legacy 2.4GHz band operated as WiFi 4 during the WiFi 5 era), and this router cuts that out. It's a 2x2 router.

Next up in their product stack is the AX20/AX1800, which supports WiFi 6 on both bands and is also 2x2.

And after that, it's AX50/AX3000, which enables 160MHz-wide channels (the AX10/AX20 only support 80MHz-wide channels) and is also 2x2.

As for whether or not this is a good deal...

Earlier this year...
So in the context of earlier deals, I'm not sure $45 for something as cut-down as the AX1500 is worth it.

As this is an AX router with a Broadcom chip, there are no open source opportunities. You are stuck with stock firmware.

It seems the code works for anything on Walmart online.
