The differences between the gen 1 and gen 2 are marginal - at best. There are no up-firing drivers so it's Atmos in name only. Gen 2 probably has slightly better voice clarity on the center channel but unless you have heard both of them one after the other you would't be able to tell. You can pretty much get this refurbished gen 1 and the surrounds for the same price as the gen 2 - which seems like a no-brainer to me. It's what I would have done if this deal had been available when I got mine.

I may pull the arc off the tv mount and mount it directly to the wall to kill any reverb and enhance the bass that comes out of it.
It may not get as loud as you want it to be for music on its own but paired with the surrounds and sub it can put out some pretty good sound. it's good at mids and highs so if you let the sub take over the lows then I'm sure it would do fine. If your just using this on it's own then It all depends on your living room setup. It may be worth the price difference between this and the Arc to try the beam first and see how it does in your place.
Try playbase and the least impressive Sonos product….I am very disappointed

The Arc has a sensor that detects a magnet in the wall mount and adjusts the bass curve accordingly. I'm not preaching, just regurgitating what I read while researching it before my own purchase. I have had mine just shy of a year and it's been mounted to the wall the whole time. We just watched a movie last night and I was re-impressed by the quality.
What I'm trying to say is I think you'll do better when it's mounted on the wall. Also if you don't have the sub yet, get it so the Arc's drivers don't have to do the heavy bass lifting - which will also improve your echo situation.

Definitely not bang for your buck. I'd only recommend this if you specifically want Sonos. Bang for your buck with soundbars is usually Vizio. Checkout this list: https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/r...est/budget
or if your budget is bigger: https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/r...t/soundbar
I have a checking account and don't see any offers anywhere.
It's visible under my Quicksilver credit card account, but I don't know where else it might show up.
Ya if your living in 2015
Only problem is I guarantee you end up buying more Sonos! you can't just have one.
Six pieces in my house and I think I could use two more.

So what I'm gathering here is that gen 1 vs gen 2 beam is not worth it ?
What if I could get the gen 2 beam for $375
