I have the black and white version of this printer and it trips my power every time I print. I ended up disconnecting it. Does anyone else have this issue?

Takes TN227 toner, if you look around there are generic toner kits for under $50 easily.

Been buying and replacing laser printers for a long time now, always had one B&W and one color, and after probably almost every other brand I run two Brother's now and couldn't be happier. Brother makes great printers IMO.

I have a similar problem with my smaller black and white only Brother laser printer. The lights flicker each time I print, feels like I'm about to trip the breaker myself

Put it on a different circuit that you don't have a lot of stuff attached to. Laser printers coming out of sleep draw tons of power. This model specs ~1200W peak and 400W actively printing.

This is a common complaint with Brother lasers. When the fusing section heater kicks on in preparation for printing, it draws a lot of current for a few milliseconds. Older structure wiring and/or circuit breakers might not like this and trip a breaker. Additionally, if the circuit it's plugged into isn't designed for higher current loads or is already near to it's operating capacity, the additional load can cause this type of problem. Older circuit breakers can trip more easily than they should as well. Lots of possibilities, all of which a licensed electrician can identify and/or offer solutions for. Brother has an article on their website addressing this issue (with some troubleshooting steps you can take), link below.

Mine flickers the lights on that same circuit as well, although it's a short enough current surge that it never trips a breaker. I've gotten used to it. The lights are LED, which tend to flicker more noticeably than incandescent. This is in a fairly new structure wired to code.

Fyi one of the Epson ecotank may be really good alternative. Very cheap ink, and laser is not really for color. You can even print photos with ink jet. If you want high speed and have budget, look at the pro series ecotank printers such at Et-5850. They come with unlimited inks for 2 years. If you are a low volume print guy like me, a tip is to print one test page per week from here: https://printertesting.com/. I just print that page every week on my trash day. I put the trash can and click print from my phone (have a bookmark on my browser). That should save you print head from dried ink, the number one concern for any inkjet

I've been hearing good things about the Ecotanks regarding cost to own, longevity of ink, and general reliability. I don't need color so laser printing is my preference, but if I bought an inkjet it would probably be one of those Ecotanks. Seems to be the best inkjet technology at the moment.
