"Outdated" depends on price point. I went to compare prices and Govee doesn't make a RGBIC light with motion control. At this price point, half of the price is really distribution and marketing costs. The no-name brands with no quality history and less distribution costs are going to be cheaper, but that is generally true for many many products.

Personally I think colored lights look weird. I'm not hosting a LMAFO concert, I am lighting my home. If you are using LEDs for white light, make sure they have at least one dedicated white LED, better if they have two (cool and warm) so you can tune the white. RGB only gives a poor white.

I was thinking of putting this outside under the front door threshold to watch one's step in the dark or over the top and down the sides of the door a bit to light the keyhole. A motion sensor would be good for this. I don't know how much lead there is before the lights and where the motion sensor is on the motion sensor one. I'd be running an extension cord out the mail slot or running the slack of this into the mail slot.

Govee has RGBIC where every I dependent LED can be a different color. If this doesn't have that capability it's been outdated for some time.

Once cut, can the the other end be wired up to another power supply?

The silvanas are one and done when cut, unless you're ant man and want to manually splice.

These $2 ones I've bought maybe a dozen of them they tend to break yearly. I've used them as night lights also the 2 dollar ones are 3 feet not 16 ft nor do they have pir motion and as someone pointed out no power supply just usb-A connection
