I got the walmart black friday Swift3 for $500 (14", 8GB, new, 1080p). It is fast and seems great --even the touchpad and keyboard. The bloatware uninstallation was a 30 minute hassle though.

One picky defect: Though Thunderbolt works well, it only carries one monitor signal (I have verified this well personally and read of others who have too). I can choose which monitor to output to, but it can't detect both simultaneously.
It is a quirk of the system that I can live with, but not everyone can. It has an HDMI workaround (and you can still use the internal display too), but that takes away the "one cable" benefit of thunderbolt.
He does not have XPS 9310 which is the proper 2021 version but the 9305 which is the 2020 design with tiger lake CPU refresh, nothing else and comes with 16:9 display. I think this Swift is better than that option due to 16GB of Ram as Ram is soldered in both and the 3:2 vertical screen which is far superior for productivity.
Also, the display in this Acer is having 440 nits brightness and better color gamut coverage than the XPS 9305's FHD display.

The keyboard of Swift 3 2020 is terrible. My ALT was fell apart.

I'm torn.. this Acer definitely has better specs than my 450 dollar 13" XPS but it's the extra 150 bucks worth moving to the Acer?

This is the xps - https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/680293
(8gb ram, 256gb hd)

XPS has 8GB ram but overall build quality, keyboard and versatility is better than swift.

A very tempting deal indeed.

However, this acer deal or this envy one:

More of a fan of the 16:10 aspect, I believe it's the sweet spot which is best for both, people who consume media and do productive work.

To the OP, are you sure this is a touchscreen? The product details on the given link say it's not.

Nice laptop, bought it over the summer when Microsoft store was clearancing them out. Not as well built as my wife's surface, but damn close for less than half the price. Nice screen resolution and brightness but my kids keep poking at it because they can't believe something isn't touchscreen...

I have this laptop with the 1tb ssd in it. bought off craigslist for 500. The keyboard is mediocre but the screen is really nice. love the resolution and size. I think 500 is a good price for a used laptop with these specs, not suire that I woudl pay 600 though.
