One picky defect: Though Thunderbolt works well, it only carries one monitor signal (I have verified this well personally and read of others who have too). I can choose which monitor to output to, but it can't detect both simultaneously.
It is a quirk of the system that I can live with, but not everyone can. It has an HDMI workaround (and you can still use the internal display too), but that takes away the "one cable" benefit of thunderbolt.
Also, the display in this Acer is having 440 nits brightness and better color gamut coverage than the XPS 9305's FHD display.

3:2 rocks for productivity so much that it overcomes the drawback of black bars for consuming media. But, we or as least I spend so much time on the web that 3:2 pays off that entire time. I am close to 100% online in some fashion.
For me, it's either 16:9 or 3:2. Choose.

How are the speakers on this?

It depends on what you want. For me 9305 is a higher build quality I liked the keyboard and mouse pad; however, for what I do a higher resolution means more real estate for looking at medical records and spreadsheets.
For what I do I don't necessarily need 16 gb and between i5 and i7 it is pretty negligable.
I would suggest you see if you can tell the difference between a FHD and QHD.
My goals were screen resolution, light weight, battery. hence this deal makes sense for me. The 16 gb was an extra bonus. I'm running word, excel, 12 tabs on firefox, powerpoint and windows will allocate the 8gb ram just fine.
I recommend you get a laptop that is charged via USB-C.
Don't be like me, stuck with acer swift, and a broken charging port.

This acer is directed more towards productivity and general daily life tasks, and a bit of coding.
If you want further help with choosing, search swift 3 on YouTube and watch the video by techchap. He compares these two laptops. Although he picks swift 3 but that's primarily because the swift X costs around a $1000. Since you got it at a great price of $799, I'd say you absolutely made the right choice.
