You can probably get away with a 750w, or depending on the rest of the rig a 650w. But this will solidly power a 3080 + moderately overclocked cpu.

extra info for others since nobody posted it yet: This is listed as an A tier psu on the LTT list.

Just to note - you still need to print out the rebate form and attach proof of purchase to drop into snail mail.

I've got one of these (actually, the platinum version, but they have the same power limit) powering my 3090, so a 3080 should be no problem.

This is an excellent deal.

Currently using a corsair ax650 from 2011.. is this a worthy replacement Its been rock solid through 10 years of gaming.

Specs skylake [email protected] and a 2060 non-super with a pretty big computer 5hdd etc in there.

Upgrading whenever its not crazy probably amd 8core and 3080class (next year)

Might also combine 3 of the hdd into 1 12TB'er as well Some say 850w min for 3080?

NVidia recommends a 750 watt for the 3080 so you'd be good here. Seasonic makes good stuff

Do deals like these happen often on Newegg? I'm contemplating buying parts for my first pc build now or waiting until i can get my hands on a gpu.

Semi-regularly I'd say. Maybe every 1-4 months on different psu's, getting rid of extra stock etc.

As with everything though, when you don't need it is when you'll notice them. When you actually are looking for something, it'll never show up.

So, just curious, every time there's a comment like this, it's just because slickdeals merged a duplicate post into the comments, right?
For a long time I was confused why people would seemingly repost deal info in the comments; slickdeals really should mark/label/etc. these merges as such
