J7 doesn't have close to the same suction (10x compared to 600 series vs S9s 40x) and it doesn't have carpet boost.

J7 is definitely smarter and has object avoidance.

If you bought this return it and get the J7 without the clean base when they are returned to Amazon and refurbed by Irobot. You will find them listed as damaged and heavily scratched and sold by the Warehouse, but when you put it in cart it will be sold by Amazon

Warning do not use S9 on wooden floors. It will scratch them over time. Those large front brushes are the culprit.

If you have carpet & tile everywhere - the S9 is excellent & much better than j7.

I have both j7 & S9. My S9 runs in the bedrooms where is all carpeted & bathrooms which all tiled.

My j7 runs on my main floor where I have wooden floors & area rugs. I have some leftover scratches from the s9 on my wooden floor from prior vacuuming of the S9. They are hairline scratches which can be observed at an angle.
