Amazon has the 1¼hp Bosch colt on sale for $99 (after coupon discount of -$13.99).

This is arguably, the best corded palm router out there. I prefer them for many tasks over the top-heavy and just plain heavy-heavy cordless routers in the market . Plus, Bosch has made its name as the best in value for a router.

Hopefully, Bosch gives us the long awaited cordless router soon. Until then, you will be hard pressed to find a better compact router out there.

May your bits stay cool, and your carbide, hard!

According to the 3Cs, pretty much the lowest price (bar any similar coupon deal)

That router is severely underpowered for anything substantial. It's more for small intricate detail. It has no use for me

Can any one recommend this to work on live edge wood ?, I am a beginner and planning to use this as a planer as well with the right attachment.

Very underpowered to use as a planner. Minimum you would need one of the bigger boys like the 2.25 or 3HP varieties

Agree with Litesaber, this is the one you want: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00005RHPD
You need something adequately powered with the ability to take a 1/2" shank and a plunge base. All the majors make similar models but this is a great one with the $20 off coupon. Don't skimp on the bit either.

How is this marginally better than the 1hp model besides the obvious RPM uptick?

I have the 1hp version and the one thing I don't like about it is how you adjust the depth. It's not that it's bad...just that it can take a couple tries to lock in the desired depth. While I can't confirm it hands-on, it looks like Bosch addressed that on the new version.

I have both this one and the "new" one that has the hand triggers. Both are amazing.

I am assuming he is responding to OP's statement "Hopefully, Bosch gives us the long awaited cordless router soon."

Yeah, you're right, the hand trigger would probably be a nice upgrade for flattening. It's a bit more expensive but flattening large material could be tedious so the increased ergonomics and ease of use would probably go a long way.

I was merely responding to this statement by the OP, not advocating it as an alternative:

Is there a plunge base that can be paired with this model?

Edit: Ah nvm. I see there is. But quite a bit more expensive than the one for the Dewalt 611.
