Sounds on par to here: https://ultrahd.highdefdigest.com...luray.html

I usually compare and contrast these two websites for UHD quality, and when they come to a consensus it's worth paying attention to.

It seems like maybe this was not a full 4K HDR rescan of the film, but a remaster of the last digital scan for the 20th anniversary edition? Now some of these 2010s rescans were done with 4K in mind, but the HDR formats had yet to be solidified and I think we're seeing the result of that in the mediocre reviews.

Also any 35 mm film should be able to be rescanned relatively flawlessly into 4k. For a motion picture you're unlikely to see instances where they're cropping or filming out of focus, because the ultimate presentation is meant for a movie theater with the 35mm projector.

You do often see poor picture quality in 35 mm film from TV shows of the 90s/00s because they knew their ultimate audience was SDR 4:3 television and issues with resolution and camera focus would not be realized.

As far for a movie of this quality, I'd be hard-pressed to believe original Master suffered from fuzziness because of this issue. I'd like to think there's a top notch 35 mm copy of this film out there that can be brought into 4K UHD much better than what they're selling here.

Generally speaking, 4K discs always redeem 4K digital. You are more likely to find a 4K disc with NO digital copy than one that redeems in 1080p.

I redeemed my Forrest Gump on Vudu. It's 4K, HDR10, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos. Not Movies Anywhere.

No, only movies owned by studios that participate in MA port over. Forrest Gump is owned by Paramount, and they don't play ball.
This is why you get a home Plex server. Real 4K/HDR and Dolby Audio - not the compressed versions you get from streaming - and always available (even outside your home potentially although that's harder with 4K).

That movie teaches more about us history then some States.
How about physics? For example, in a vacuum a feather falls just as fast as a hammer!

If anyone has already seen this 4k version, have any thoughts on the video quality? This review of another Forrest Gump 4K disc makes me think that you're better off with watching in HD instead: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Fo...ay/202137/

Bummer, as this is my fav movie. Already have the digital copy, but can't beat 4K discs when done properly.

I don't have a computer I keep at home. Just a work laptop that I carry with me everyday. Would pled be possible? I've never tried it because I assumed it wasn't.

Setup wise, I mostly use my Apple TV for streaming, and watch things in my iPhone on the go.

If you have an Apple TV 4K then you've got half the setup already. You'd need to get something to host the server (for me this is a Pi4-4GB) and an external HD to store your films (WD My Book-4TB).

Unfortunately, the 4K is terrible on this one. Not worth 1 dollar.

Pretty decent mockumentary about the typical American single mother taking advantage of a rich but "slow-witted and kindhearted" (per Wikipedia) Alabama man.

Damn bro, you ok, or you just MGTOW?

Either way, hang in there brother.

Also, Forrest's mom was a single mother too. Can't be too hard on Jenny for licking that honey pot clean. She never wanted his money until she was dying and wanted to give him his son.
