Can one of these Verizon phones immediately be moved to or used to trade into AT&T or T-Mobile or the AT&T phone moved to or used as a trade into T-Mobile under their "T‑Mobile Will Pay Off Your Phone Up to $1,000" promo?

My daughter wants an upgrade from her hand-me-down iPhone 8 for Christmas. This seems like a good deal to me, as we're already Verizon customers. Am I missing something?

Was about to jump on it, but realized iPhone 11 doesn't work on 5G. Still a decent price.

I don't think there's a trick here. Even corporate accounts are starting to become eligible for the iPhone 12 (with the iPhone XR and then iPhone 11 having been the standard bearer of bare minimum iPhone for those discounted accounts). This just looks like the final inventories of iPhone 11 being cleared out.

Should be a fine opportunity for exactly the scenario you're in, though I think one of the iPhone mini deals would have cost you about the same and would represent an even better value for money considering the OLED screen. However, if all-day battery is a factor the iPhone 11 will be more comparable to the prior iPhone 8 experience (the mini isn't broken, but the screen and smaller size simply conspire to stress the battery). The other advantage of the mini for an iPhone 8 user is that the overall size isn't increasing.

Good luck!
Jon

The good news is that this has almost no implications for AT&T customers for some time! Verizon customers may want to consider the value mmWave compatibility might have for them. (Do you have towers nearby that you spend some time not moving around when you're close to them? e.g. near your dog park, favorite coffee shop)

Good luck!

yes, not at checkout tho. you can pay for the whole phone once you activate it and the device payment plan start showing up on your bill.

yep for security reasons, they are only allowed to ship to your billing address. so please make sure that is correct.

I changed my billing address for this deal so I could order it and send it away to my relative. You can change it back later once the shipment is out.

If your line has a legacy unlimited data feature and you continue with your upgrade, you will lose unlimited data and will be put on a 2 GB plan for $30/month plus all applicable upgrade fee, line access fee and all other fees, charges and taxes. If your line has any other plan, your plan will not be changed with this transaction.
The above is the fine print excerpt for verizon. There doesn't appear to have a similar rule for AT&T.

Good catch - I actually missed that in the thread title(!) which certainly adds value. Considering that the iPhone 11 Pro isn't too much larger than the iPhone 8 and has OLED this could be a near perfect value upgrade for an iPhone 8 user. However, one thing I personally experienced on my iPhone XS Max was that whatever battery optimizations Apple has worked to make to offset the increased power draw of the early OLED screens never really seemed to arrive: my iPhone XS Max had a big ol' battery but still never demonstrated the battery life of my iPhone XR that I used right alongside it.

Good luck!

Yes!

but here's the fine print and link to that T-mobile promo:

Keep & Switch: Limited time offer; subject to change. Qualifying unlocked device, credit, service, port-in, 90+ days with device & eligible carrier & timely redemption required. Virtual Mastercard typically takes 15 days. No cash access & expires in 6 months. Card issued by Sunrise Banks N.A., Member FDIC.

Basically, you need to have the device on your AT&T or Verizon for 90 days already, pay off the phone yourself, save the bill, then port that number and 15 days later, you will receive a gift card worth that remaining payment, which will expire in 6 months (? this always gets me, like come on!).
