But who can afford any of the accommodations? And even more an issue is the open hatred of locals against tourists. I've never seen it so bad. You all should check out some of the FB groups like Kauai Rants and Raves (and other islands)...but wow the open hostility.

Your linked article is from mid-August. Hawaii is ALWAYS PACKED in Summer. By now, they are begging for more tourists to come. LOL

Have you been there? You may enjoying visiting places where the locals hate you but it's not my idea of a holiday. I've been going there over 20 years and it get worse every year.

Not sure what your keyboard warrior comment means but it seems you have a disconnect between concept and fact.

Hope you're enjoying your stay! I'm sorry the continental US hasn't been kinder to you.
I mean, home is fine, but who wouldn't rather be in Hawaii?

We've been here for 10 days, and will be here for another 6. Started on the big island and now in Kauai. Not one bit of this nonsense about people being "not welcoming" has occurred to us. We have been to Hawaii twice before and it doesn't really seem any different. Just wear your mask and act like a nice human being.

I've been about 25 times, all the islands. Anytime it's cheap flights from CA, I GO!. Was just on Oahu for 3 weeks in August. Have made many local friends along the way over the years. You either have a really bad attitude or go to the wrong places. Most locals are great!

You said to check out FB message boards for locals attitudes. LOL hence my keyboard warriors comment. THIS is FUNNY: You may enjoying visiting places where the locals hate you but it's not my idea of a holiday. I've been going there over 20 years and it get worse every year." IN YET, you still GO. LOL You sound like you are just trying to keep anyone else from going..

Most of the island economy is tourism, and working-class Hawaiians don't take that for granted especially after the events of 2020. That unwelcoming narrative is being pushed by ivory tower elites who don't appreciate being "inconvenienced" or welfare recipients who don't care to connect the dots.

In my experience so far, it's been people who feel "inconvenienced" by having to wear a mask, sanitize or have to wait for anything. We've stayed at some pretty nice resorts on Kauai and the big Island this trip and it was true both places. Everybody just wants to be mad at someone else

i got $120 round trip tickets ($60 ea way) for a flight mid-feb SFO to HNL. i attempted maybe 5 purchases online but it kept giving me errors, so i queued on phone support for 55mins and easily got them to book my tickets from there. they were able to see my failed attempts and got the info from there.

Tell that to tourists who are there now during their huge rainstorm.
I used to work at a hotel in Waikiki. You'd be amazed at how many people would come complain to the front desk on days it was overcast and cloudy as if it was the hotel's fault.

The moment something bad happens in Hawaii, the ticket prices drop...
This time the water supply is contaminated and families are fleeing Hawaii. Look up recent news. ..What a loser state...

Hopefully, those that are travelling will not be exposed to water poisoning in addition to extreme high prices for everything.
