I ordered 2 of these from this company when they had this deal about 3-4 weeks ago. I use one phone in 2 different cars with wired CarPlay so I bought one for each.

They seem to work pretty well. it's just odd that in order to connect every time, Bluetooth AND Wi-Fi must be used, even though once it gets going it only seems to use Wi-Fi. Connecting takes maybe 30 seconds after I leave my driveway and disconnect from my home Wi-Fi.

I've pulled up Google Maps and let the "where you are"
Map stream and it works fine but I haven't tried navigating yet. I tried a couple of phone calls and it seems to work ok, no echo or delay that I've heard about.

For 63ish dollars I think they were worth it to not have to take my phone out of my pocket and plug in every time I get in the car.

Note that it ships from China so the shipping took a while.

So what happens when you start up the car and there is no Wi-Fi? I'm interested in trying this but it seems Useless if Wi-Fi is needed to connect

I'm guessing it has a built-in wifi that you have to connect to just like how some dash cam works.

Light in the box is a terrible company to deal with... just FYI in case you have a problem... they give a real hard time with returns and stuff...
I fought them for 2 weeks and in the end they kept $1 of the order for shipping insurance... the opposite of amazon basically.

The box generates a local Wi-Fi network that your phone connects to.

I'm failing to understand how this makes much sense.

You're paying $55 to not have to plug your phone in, but yet, it's a gimmicky hassle, and we generally plug our phones in, in our cars anyways.

It just seems like more hassle than worth.

I bought this last month when this same deal came up. I had been skeptical about these as I had read mixed reviews. That said, this thing is pretty awesome and has made it so I actually use CarPlay a lot more than I did before - previously I basically would only use CarPlay if going on a long drive. In my driveway usually what happens is it will auto-connect by the time I'm pulling out of the driveway - probably because it drops my home WiFi at that point. When out and about I tend to remote start my car and then this connects immediately when I get into my car. If I didn't remote start my car I think it just likes like 15-30 seconds to get everything booted up which is a non-issue for me. I tend to just start driving then use Siri to queue some music etc.

Also to clarify though I haven't extensively tested this, it's just worked pretty well for my basic usage which is pretty much music and nav.

One thing I wasn't clear on is if there should be any aspect of data security to be worried about here. As mentioned it looks like it uses Bluetooth for the initial handshake and then hands of to WiFi (higher bandwidth). I'm not sure how these even works in general TBH, if they just reverse engineered Apple's protocols because this technology does exist from Apple but only in certain cars like BMWs. Basically wondering if the device itself can see any unencrypted data/any concerns there. I haven't researched this at all it's just on my TODOs because outside of that this seems like a pretty great product at this pricepoint.

I got one a few weeks back during the previous sale. It is a nifty device. I prefer not to have to connect my phone via wire (I try to only charge my phone one time a day to preserve battery life) and this device solves that problem. Most importantly it works for me as intended. CarPlay works great with it; however, as noted before, it does take up to 20 seconds to fully connect which is only a minor annoyance for me but it may be more of a bother for others. This is a great price and is much, much less than amazon. Shipping was slow but it did eventually arrive.

I just received mine (from the last deal they had), shipping took about 2 weeks

Works extremely well, an absolute must buy, connects the same speed as our other car, 2022 Tiguan wireless CarPlay.

This is a great device and works very well with my Sony deck. Paid $120 on Amazon a few weeks ago, returning and buying for cheaper price here
