They are lowering the price on this because of the new Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2, which is priced at $899. The reviews for the new Tamron are amazing. Please don't confuse the new VXD G2 with the old RXD.
A Tamron from an official retailer will come with a six year warranty FYI.

I own the Canon version of this lens and it is a powerhouse. Sharp in the entire range and well built. I use it for landscape photography.

This is the lens I've been waiting to go on sale for a while. Glad I waited, cause now I have ordered the Tamron 35-150 which seems to be a much more complete lens. Can't wait til it's shipped. Will sell my 35/50/85mm primes to recoup some money

Other than the serial number advice from that reddit link. People with higher serials still mentioning dust issues.

So much ignorance in the SD comment sections and this one takes the cake. You have some people comparing this full frame lens to an apsc lens - another guy claiming amazon has a better deal on a lens not even remotely similar - and others saying that a Tamron 35-150 is a much more complete lens.

Please keep the laughs coming guys. Just opened another bag of popcorn.

Interesting choice. I'm looking at the Tamron 35-150mm too. I have this Sigma 24-70 that I'm planning to sell to get the 35-150. My set-up will be Zeiss 16-35 and Tamron 35-150. I might keep the 85 for it's small size and faster at f1.8.

FYI for anyone with an older version of it - you can send it in and they replace the housing to the newer one which is supposedly better at keeping dust out. Just got mine back from them.

The Tamron 35-150 as a more complete lens is a valid argument specially if you factor in your photography style. If you take a look at the most popular prime lens focal length, only the 24mm will not be covered by the 35-150mm. It will cover the 35, 40, 50, 85, 100, 135, and 150. Add a wide angle zoom like a 16-35 or 24mm prime and you have a very complete lens lineup.
