no I believe it's new, the 8qt instant pot I got last year had a stainless steel one. it sucks that instant pot is going down this road.

Tbh w/o the steel pot, I'd go up to the 10-qt, Crock-Pot Pressure Cooker.
I've had this over a year and it has the aluminum pot.
