no problem, lol. almost everything on the printer can be modded so that's the fun part. the printer is LOUD stock and so I replaced the original board with a creality 4.2.7 board (this quiets it a lot) and most of the fans with quieter aftermarket fans (the one in the control box, power supply, and heatsink). I also have a bltouch which is basically a little probe that measures the curvature/warpage of your print bed so that your printer can account for them; otherwise, the printer assumes a flat surface and prints as if it was flat, leading to print failures if your bed is warped like mine. the v2 board is a more powerful board that would let me enable more advanced features.

if you're interested in modding, I would say the most important ones are the bltouch (or clones) because manual leveling is a PIA and a new board to make the printer quieter. some other mods are nice to have but most are kind of useless/cosmetic...

A very small amount to get a few sample prints done and the quality is questionable. There is a $10 off coupon in the box for Inland brand filament you can use to buy a roll while you are there. Inland PLA is usually about $17-$20 per roll so that $10 coupon makes a roll reasonable to grab while there.

so tempting to get another one. I have a slightly modded one of these that I got for $199 last year and I just got an skr mini v2 board yesterday along with some maintenance parts. If I get this deal, essentially I have a bunch of "replacement" parts for my current printer, lol...

Seems like Google Voice phone numbers are not accepted. Is there a work-around that can be used without giving them my mobile number?

"We're having trouble registering this mobile number. For the security of your Micro Center account, please try another mobile number from a major US phone carrier that is not VOIP or Internet-based."

Seems like it works for some but not all anymore.

Does this come with material to start using it, or do you have to buy that seperate?

Microcenter's Inland filament is pretty decent, and decently priced. Pick up a roll of PLA in your favorite color when you get the printer.

Hopefully they'll still honor the price by the time I get to the store. Last weekend I was VERY annoyed when I got there Sunday morning to find out that the $200 price had only been good on Saturday.

Got my coupon in hand, hoping my location still has printers tomorrow.

The Inland Filament is pretty good right?

inland has a very good reputation. I would look for the Inland PLA+ (vs. PLA) which is more premium. that's the only filament I use now after trying quite a few other brands (geetech and random amazon ones). inland is super consistent for me.

Are these good for beginners and easy to setup? Looking to get a 3D printer that's not a toy but not too advanced for my 8 year old.

I asked this in the thread last week and the consensus was yes, especially for the price. There are youtube assembly videos online, sounds like it takes about an hour. Do know there is quite a bit of tinker needed with 3D printing in general from what I understand.

Thanks this is very helpful. The next thing for me to find is where he can get models or how to easily make models to print as he doesn't know CAD or 3D modeling yet.

Tons of great websites with STL files ready to go for download. TinkerCad is amazing for basic design, your kid can be designing and printing in that tool in no time.
