no problem, lol. almost everything on the printer can be modded so that's the fun part. the printer is LOUD stock and so I replaced the original board with a creality 4.2.7 board (this quiets it a lot) and most of the fans with quieter aftermarket fans (the one in the control box, power supply, and heatsink). I also have a bltouch which is basically a little probe that measures the curvature/warpage of your print bed so that your printer can account for them; otherwise, the printer assumes a flat surface and prints as if it was flat, leading to print failures if your bed is warped like mine. the v2 board is a more powerful board that would let me enable more advanced features.

if you're interested in modding, I would say the most important ones are the bltouch (or clones) because manual leveling is a PIA and a new board to make the printer quieter. some other mods are nice to have but most are kind of useless/cosmetic...

A very small amount to get a few sample prints done and the quality is questionable. There is a $10 off coupon in the box for Inland brand filament you can use to buy a roll while you are there. Inland PLA is usually about $17-$20 per roll so that $10 coupon makes a roll reasonable to grab while there.

so tempting to get another one. I have a slightly modded one of these that I got for $199 last year and I just got an skr mini v2 board yesterday along with some maintenance parts. If I get this deal, essentially I have a bunch of "replacement" parts for my current printer, lol...

Thanks this is very helpful. The next thing for me to find is where he can get models or how to easily make models to print as he doesn't know CAD or 3D modeling yet.
Thingaverse has lots of premade models.

I got one a few weeks ago and highly recommend it. I didn't have to tinker a whole lot. Most of the time was spent setting up Octoprint and learning Cura. Since then i've been printing almost non-stop. Liked it so much i'm going back to get 2 more for family members.

Just bought one last weekend in Cambridge, they had about 14 sitting about 10' from the front door and weren't actually in the 3D print section. Their online stock inventory has hardly reflected what I've actually seen in store so YMMV.

That being said, mine came with the 4.2.2 board with Creality's own Marlin 1.0.1 on it with the loud stepper drivers, so nice to be able to easily flash up to the latest Marlin 2.0.9. Incredible print quality for the money; if you have the time and are inclined to tinker and dial it in it's well worth the $100. I'd highly recommend doing yourself a favor and get the stiffer springs and glass bed to avoid the headache (or just go for the bltouch). If the sound annoys you you can pick up the silent board as a pretty much drop in replacement for like $35.

Hopefully they'll still honor the price by the time I get to the store. Last weekend I was VERY annoyed when I got there Sunday morning to find out that the $200 price had only been good on Saturday.
LOTS of printers at the Houston store when I got there, more than 100. The $200 price was still good, and my coupon code from last weekend worked. Out the door for $108.

I'm actually a little ticked off at this timing. I was there yesterday and saw the big stacks of these... I was thinking damn if these were $100 I'd snag one. It's pretty much too far away to head back for one now.

I went into micro center and they let me get the resin printer instead of this. (I already had this and used my wifes number to sign up) YMMV

Are these good for beginners and easy to setup? Looking to get a 3D printer that's not a toy but not too advanced for my 8 year old.
The Ender 3v2 was my first 3d printer. It's a great beginner one. It does need some fine tuning to get printing things well. Theres tons of information on YouTube and reddit for this exact printer. Its a fun thing that you both can enjoy together. I don't know if it's something you'd let you 8 year use unsupervised but it is a good printer for the price.
