Aspect ratio aside, why would you buy this or any Surface device over a Galaxy Book Pro 360? The Samsung has way more bang for your buck in raw computing hardware in all respects (~$1k recently for i7-1165, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) and has the best pen tech/experience available (Wacom EMR, same as Galaxy tablets). Yeah, Galaxy display is 1080p and not super bright, but it is OLED to balance out.
IMO now that Samsung finally has a 2-in-1 Windows machine with S pen (I couldn't manage with just Android) for a great price, all other competition is dead in the water.
128GB SSD @ $1k in this SP8 deal is a sick joke
The SP8 with same specs as Book Pro 360 is well over $2k...get slapped M$
I've been shopping surface devices and this deal is reasonable since the next best thing is the $799 Bestbuy deal and the $779 Costco deal for the 7+ AND you are hell bent on having the newest and best.
For an 8th gen device that costs $1k, specs seem a little underwhelming.

I've had 3 surface pro devices and loved them all. The only issue i've had was the overheating/ghosting issues in the past. Have they resolved this issue yet or would i expect to get that again?

"Overheating" of anything is proportional to how much you run it and on what settings. Any Surface Pro (except the X version) is literally a full PC running a full Windows OS. It has a real Intel desktop processor inside it, something VERY different from a tablet, even an iPad "Pro" which all come with mobile processors and mobile OS.

Samsung doesn't just NOW have a 2-in1 windows machine that has all that. You must have not seen the Samsung Galaxy Book 1 and 2. (The 2nd gen is windows on arm but still not android).
Not only that, the Galaxy book2 has a 3:2 1440pish display.

I have the Galaxy Book Pro 360 (15.6" version) but I really miss the Surface Pros I've had before. The Surface Pro series is more compact and lighter. The removable keyboard is really nice because it means I don't have to carry the keyboard when using it as a slate device, and I don't have hold it by the keyboard. And most of all, the Surface Pros just feel a lot more solid. The Surface Pro series used to have soldered SSD, but the SP8 does have user-replaceable SSDs. And the aspect ratio is a big deal - the 15.6" Galaxy Book Pro display doesn't really feel any larger than the Surface Pro because it's so narrow. Even with the taskbar placed on the left side of the screen - and that option doesn't even exist in Windows 11 (which is why I'm sticking with Windows 10 on the Galaxy Book Pro).

I tried out the SP8 in Costco today and the screen is beautiful and keyboard solid.. but the speakers in that thing seem utterly horrid. Perhaps it was just the loud warehouse noise, but my ipad mini 6 was louder and sounded better when compared side by side... which is just sad.

I wanted to get the SP8 but with those speakers, I think I'll have to return it. Anyone have thoughts on the SP8 speakers?

And the Costco version is the Intel EVO version for those who care. This version is non-EVO based on what the Microsoft Store is selling.
