FYI to those comparing this to an M1 Air… this has a 25% brighter screen, twice as many ports, better speakers, a Touch Bar, a larger trackpad, and support for more external displays. The more appropriate comparison is to the 13-inch Pro with M1, which is literally the exact same computer with an M1 instead of an i5. That one with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD is $1579 in the EDU store, $1699 regular, so you will be paying at least $480 more just for the M1 with all else being equal.

I do think the M1 Air would be a better choice than this for many people, but I just wanted to make people aware of the differences and that the M1 Air is not as good in some ways.

This is a great price but the M1 is really, really nice. If you need bootcamp or eGPU then this is for you. Otherwise the M1 is vastly superior in every way.

I know this will get a plethora of Thumbs Down. But for those looking for an Intel Mac for various Software reasons, or to Bootcamp instead of Parallels (until the IF the Apple Processor's can be used with Bootcamp), this is a pretty good deal. It is only $100 more than the Micro Center clear out a little while back at $999.

I ordered an m1 macbook on amazon 2 days for 1200 and the price is already 100 dollars cheaper -_- Do I have to re-order it or is there a way to get the price changed?

Not true, though you can get a grey market key for cheap, the free option is to just not provide a license key. Windows 10 is a free download and not providing a license only restricts the background to one watermarked image. You can still update and everything just like normal.

What do you mean not true? I recycle computers old computers as a side hustle and I've been buying codes on eBay for a while.

It's pretty straightforward. I also build computers for people, you don't have to buy a windows key at all if you don't care about the background image. This only applies to windows 10 and beyond though.

Thus, free windows is cheaper than a 3-4 dollar key, that's my point

Dude.. you sound ridiculous. I'm just pointing out an option that provides the same functionality as any windows 10 home key except for the one cosmetic caveat that's actually free thus cheaper than "freest you'll get" option you pointed out.

You also run the risk of Microsoft revoking your license if the key is identified as grey market keys and a few I've bought with that route have not worked to begin with. It's not a 100% guaranteed route, just saying.

Not to attack your knowledge and call you a liar. You're just plain wrong bud.

The only 2 arguments I see on getting the intel version are software (which you mentioned) and the lack of ports on the 13" M1. 2 ports limits you in many ways and forces you to carry larger dongles.
