Not bad.

Would be worth mentioning in the description that it also includes a DVD Writer.
And don't forget you also get the McAfee for 1 year.

meh you can get the 3060ti version for 1100 at hp so why buy here. 3060ti is LIGHT YEARS above a 3060 for gaming.
The HP overall is a worse build and if you go to their website and plan on looking up the service manual or pictures of inside the case, good luck. It's almost like they know it's a sub-par piece of equipment and are trying to hide it.

You suggest paying $100 more to have a card that is "light years" above another card. But then you're having the other 90% of your system be what holds you back. Seems like a great idea.

The Costco deal is phenomenal if you can get one, but it seems sold out/unavailable at most locations.
It's better but after 15% CB here + Amex $120 offer you're paying $730+tax for this and $1300+tax at Costco.

As far as the Costco XPS, the i7 really won't make a difference in gaming and for a few bucks you could & should double the ram in this machine, but 32gb in the i7 is overkill for gaming. The extra 1tb HDD is worth about $25 as well. I personally wouldn't pay $500+ for a ~25% gaming performance difference between the 3060 and the 3060 ti when they already both perform phenomenally.

HP similar specs is $926 after WINTER10 promo.

Windows 11 Home 64
Intel® Core™ i5 11400 (2.6 GHz up to 4.4 GHz, 12 MB L3 cache, 6 cores)
8 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB)
256 SSD storage
No HDD
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 (12 GB GDDR6 dedicated)
Shadow Black Plastic, Dark Chrome Logo with 500 W Bronze efficiency power supply
Bronze PSU vs Platinum PSU
256 SSD vs 512 Nvme

No optical drive in HP
HP has only 2 RAM slots, so no buying a cheap 2x4gb kit to make the system ready for gaming. Granted, both systems need to upgrade ram. But 1x8gb stick is cheaper than 2x8gb stick. So your savings from the HP are never actually realized. XPS has 4 ram slots and comes with 1x8gb already

To quantify "light years above" Smilie

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis..._30_series

The 3060 is 3584 shaders, the 3060 Ti is 4864 shaders, the 3070 is 5888, 3070 Ti is 6144, 3080 is 8704, 3080 Ti is 10240, and 3090 is 10496. The number of other processing units is proportional to the number of shaders. So the amount of hardware you get in each card is:

1.00 - 3060
1.36 - 3060 Ti is like getting 1.36 3060s
1.64 - 3070 is like getting 1.64 3060s
1.71 - 3070 Ti
2.43 - 3080
2.86 - 3080 Ti
2.93 - 3090

So you can see the big jumps in the amount of hardware you get are at the 3060 Ti, 3070, and 3080. The other models represent a much smaller increase over the previous.

This ignores clock speed and memory bandwidth differences, and differing amounts of VRAM, Going from the 3060 to the 3060 Ti also bumps up the memory bus from 192 bits to 256 bits (33% faster memory access), so you should see a significant speed boost from that as well. (Next step up is the 3080, which gets a 320 bit bus.)

At this price, it's pretty hard to argue with. I mean, it's no full-blown gaming PC; it features some proprietary parts and is not super convenient to upgrade, but for under a grand with an RTX 3060, 512 GB NVMe SSD, and 11th-gen Core i5, it's hard to do much better with any of the bigger brands.
Shouldn't these higher end systems come with default 16GB RAM. Not sure why Dell is doing this with both gaming desktop as well as laptops

They both have i5-11400's + 8gb of ram (if anything the HP has dual channel which is superior to a single stick). For $100 more (ignoring CB and other offers) to improve the MOST important part of a gaming PC (the GPU) the HP is much better. Everyone on here seems to think GPUs are bottlenecked by the CPU when that's only the case for top tier models - certainly not applicable to entry level cards like the 3060.

because Alder Lake processors are in the hands of manufacturers for both desktop and mobile. They need to clear out these old crap processors and this is how they do it.

anti virus is a joke nowadays. windows defender is more than adequate. antivirus companies just try to scare people into buying their worthless service.

$1000 is no longer close to being a 'high range' system, and OEM's know that people will buy these solely because its their only way to get a GPU. Anyways, you can buy a 2x8GB DDR4 3200 MHz kit for $40, and its as easy as installing as legos. Obviously doesnt apply to a lot of laptops but I wouldnt be turned away by the 8GB stick in this.

Correct. The 8 GB of RAM in this system is a non-issue. If anything, it's terrific that it's single DIMM by contrast, because it's easier to add a second 8 GB stick to produce 16 GB dual-channel.

IMHO again still a pretty solid deal.

850 including cb sounds like a good deal for 3060 12gb. Can any enthusiasts comment on this as a budget gaming pc? Anything need to be upgraded?
decent little system, biggest downside is cooling in these (aside from proprietary Motherboard, PSU, and case). Here is some information on some tricks to improving the cooling - CPU faces the biggest cooling challenges, but relatively easy to overcome : https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/com...elocation/
