I've owned many kayaks and I find the sit on top the best. Get a 10' or 12' if you can transport it. The big problem with sit in kayaks are spiders, bugs and even snakes if left outiside. If left outside get a cockpit cover. Nothing worse then paddling down the river and having a snake or spider crawling up your leg. Been there done that and swam home. Smilie
I've used these a bit at the lake and they do okay. At 6'2" and 205# I feel pretty unstable and they definitely don't track real well, as expected for this size.

But I found a YouTuber a while back who took this thing into Class III-IV stuff just to prove it can be done. So treat this like a cheap set of golf clubs or guitar — in the right hands, they're great. Otherwise pretty mediocre.
It's a beginner kayak at a really nice price.
It has pretty good reviews on paddling.com

I started on a $200 (on sale and 20% coupon) Fusion 124 of similar quality years ago.

Never saw a reason to upgrade past some of the farkles I added on the cheap. I use mine in all seasons in the PNW and have been on Lake WA in all months and weather.

I bought one of these Arubas as a backup. My fusion is pretty beat up by now.

Yeah, don't get me wrong — I'm constantly begging my MIL (the owner) to let me borrow them for some river paddling (with some Class I-II sections).

Another bonus is you can get these inside a lot of minivans if you remove the center console (and close the tailgate!). Or in the bed of a crew cab pickup with just a couple feet poking out the back. No need to add a roof rack.

Ah, so for 6'6" and 225#, a definite no?

No what you said is true. Tracking usually a challenge on 10ft or less.
My tracking on the fusion greatly improved with using my kayak. I found out YouTube is not the same as doing it to get decent paddling skills down......

I am also partial to easy loading for transport. I toss mine into a beater Chevy Astro Cargo Van I keep around to haul something once in blue moon, and it really mainly hauls kayaks.. and 10ft ones fit with a ft to spare. I can transport two but kinda ugly.

I don't know. It might work.
I'm a 6'1 and still have leg room to spare.
If you have a Dicks close, I'd order for store pickup and sit in it first.
I sat in one like mine at pickup, first to make sure I like the fit.

I like sit-ons in warmer waters. Up here, I need the protection of a sit-in except for the peak of summer.

Quite a story. My biggest nuisance are kids on fast boats, paid by daddy, blasting by and inconsiderate or ignorant idiots with big yachts creating very large wakes making me take water.

This one will be easier to move by one person. You can grab the inside edge and carry it with one hand. Much harder to do that with a sit-on-top kayak.

The other factor is the tsc kayak comes with paddle. This one doesn't.

Got one of these from Sears right before the pandemic hit. Agree with one commenter that it is easy to move and put on roof racks compared to the 10 Ft Old Town that we have. For the price I think it is hard to beat. Tracks just fine for me in a lake. Also I am 6'3 -185 and size wise it is comfortable
