according to camelcamelcamel this is the lowest price. I had my eye on this for a while before I picked up the Ryobi plunge router a few days before Black Friday. Still, this one has really good numbers and some cool features like soft-start and variable-speed. Might be the deal someone's been looking for.
Powerful 15-amp variable speed soft start motor provides speeds from 8, 000 to 23, 000 RPM
Plunging base locks in downward position for functionality as both a plunge and a fixed Router
Accepts both 1/4 and 1/2-inch Router bits with a plunge depth of up to 2-3/8 inches
7-Stop turret combined with both macro and micro-adjustment dials maximize precision

Like I said I was going to buy this before I bought a Ryobi. But my 10 amp Ryobi plunge router didn't come with any accessories like this. I'm actually kind of jealous. I wish I could have gone this route. I haven't used this exact machine, but I have used a lot of WEN stuff and been pretty damn impressed for what it can do for the price. I think I've gotten nine tools from them and I haven't been let down yet. Been using them for a few years now. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy something else from them.
It is a budget router with lots of plastic parts, a bit sloppy and the 5% discount does not exactly scream 'slickdeal!' The 15amps is nice, but cheap motors with bushings instead of bearings require more amperage to run the motor before the remaining is applied to the work piece. Typical for 120v, 6amps is about 1HP, so theoretically, this should be 2 -1/2HP, but I would be really surprised if that is at the working end.
That said, Wen gets it right with the switch on the handle, the variable speed selector within reach of the same hand and the soft start. Like a dead man switch, if you drop it, it gets away from you, it shuts off. Add the accessories and case, it is a decent residential/hobby tool for the money. Reading the reviews, some of the lower are simply user error, but overall, decently rated. If I bought one, I would be using it before the return time ran out.
