I bought a kai wasabi deba in the previous sale. The knife is of very low quality. Fit and finish is so bad that it's worse than generic utility knife. I would recommend the Mercer line instead.

I bought a Wasabi Chef's knife. The knife is well made for what I paid. So far so good though
I've already got my preferred Tojiro chef knife, but I'm getting one for the graphics alone as my gf is in love with Halloween aesthetics. She's used to crappy rainbow knives so I'm not worried

Among the cheapo knives, I have to agree. Mercer santoku I bought as a beater gets just as much use as the wusthof. I do have to sharpen it about 3x as often
I thought Kai is a premium brand. Even its original price of $25 is low for a premium chef knife. What's going on?
They sell a full range like most brands. Pure Komachi are more for good home kitchens and not pro, if you want that they do have a whole line with 'pro' in the name...

I have Mercer , it's great for the price vs Henkel and wusthof
Do not completely click the link and just press down gently to see the pop up with the information. Once the pop up loads press open link.
This is an iPhone quirk.
for a goto cheap knife that is GREAT for slicing and dicing onions,veggies.. and regular cutting of tomatoes etc.
Brand: Kiwi
Deba-Style Flexible Thai Knife (#171), Kiwi around 5-7$
the bottom edge is curved slightly makes for a nice rocking motion vs totally flat chef knife.
The knife is cheap steel. I use a honing steel on it about once a month.. and sharpen it 2x yearly.
Buy one and you will thank me. I have relatives that bought it after using mine.. and they all have fancy 300-400$ knife sets.
