Netflix was once the only major movie streaming site, and you could find pretty much any movie on there, old or new. Now, it is almost impossible to have access to every movie that you want to watch or re-watch, without subscribing to Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon, HBO Max, Peacock, and Paramount+. And even then, there are still some movies you wouldn't be able to find. It is expensive and (in my opinion) a massive pain to locate which streaming platform a given movie is on.

In addition, different streaming platforms offer different features and quality. As I'm sure you know, the resolution and bit rate of a physical disk is going to be better than anything available on a streaming site.

If you a seriously into home theater,
or if you like the idea of being able to own a copy of the film,
or if you hate the idea of having to identify which platform the movie might be on,
or if you don't want to pay for access to all of the streaming services every month,
or if you are concerned about preservation or access,
or if you don't have a high-bandwidth internet line,
or if you just like collecting things,
or if you like how all the cases looks lined up on your shelf...
you might prefer a physical disk.

Why are people streaming when you can purchase and watch the movies in better video/audio quality and keep a tangible item instead of buying just "data"? Serious question

Yes it's lossless on disc vs. compressed for streaming. It's obvious in some movies, less clear in others it depends on the mastering.

I guarantee the audio is better, and you will notice the difference. 4X-10X better audio bitrates on physical vs digital. Audio is really 1/2 of the movie watching experience.

Not so sure you care about audio?
Try this little experiment.
Put on a 2 hour movie that you have never seen before.
Play the 1st hour with audio off. Just watch and pay attention to the movie, but hear nothing.
Play the 2nd hour with video off. Just listen to the movie, but see nothing.
Which gives you a better experience and more pleasure.

If you find that something is missing, maybe it's time for an upgrade.

Because some people just don't care that much about the video quality, and would rather not have the clutter of a physical object.
