Why is it junk? I've had one for a few months having upgraded from a 4k fire stick and it's much faster and has Alexa built in.

Mini Review - I bought one of these in order to try the Zoom Meetings app on it but the cube just isn't powerful enough to provide a good Zoom experience. Zoom was glitchy on the Cube and there was very annoying lip sync lag. I tried some other apps for streaming but it just was not as good as my Apple TV 4K for streaming and there were DRM problems when trying to stream any 4K content from MoviesAnywhere app. I ended up sending it back.

Just upgraded from a 1st gen cube. Much faster, but the Echo part of it still sucks

I have the echo turned off on mine. It kept accidently interpreting my tv or regular conversations has alexa commands. Plus I don't like the always listening to me aspect, though I suspect it is doing that regardless.

Does your Apple TV have Zoom? Are you sure you didn't buy the previous Gen Cube?

I have first gen cube exclusive in my home theater which is in basement. Works out very good. I automated different theater lights, receiver and projector which are Alexa compatible. Works like a charm. But recently I see lag switching between apps and button clicks. Planning to upgrade. Anyone know when is the next version of cube due?

I bought the 2nd gen. The Fire Cube 2nd gen is the only streaming box I know of that has an app for Zoom Meetings but Zoom Meetings really requires a more powerful processor to provide a nice experience. It's the main reason I ordered the Fire Cube 2nd gen but the Zoom Meetings app was just too glitchy and laggy compared to connecting my laptop to my TV. I was considering keeping the cube to use in a second tv but since it also had the 4K DRM issues in MoviesAnywhere app I just decided to send it back. I don't have any DRM issues like that with my Apple TV 4K or my Roku Ultra.
