Great price. I have the Nikon version. Sharp and light without feeling cheap. Very overlooked lens IMHO. The only downside is no weather sealing but who expects that at this price point.

I have this as it was recommended to me for budget astrophotography. I've snapped some decent pictures of the Orion Nebula and the Pleiades. I recommend it especially at this price.

This isn't the best deal this has been since a previous had a memory card and a mount that was worth 120+ msrp for $400 a year to a year and a half ago ish but for the lens itself and what it does it's worth the price. It's ideal for outdoor use and can use an update using the tap in tamron console. Supposedly helps with autofocusing which I noticed could be sharper out of the box last time people mentioned when this was on sale.

Some also say you don't have to get the tap in console just take the lens to a store that has a tap in and will update it for cheap

It is weather sealed. Great lens. However, Canon EF mount is dead.

That tap in console is cheap. Your gas and time wasted at a store is worth more than the console.

Amazon also with the same price for the Canon version (I didn't check the other mount). If you have amazon reward (5%) and don't have the B&H card to offset the tax then amazon may be the better route. Check your credit cards to see if there's any promos as back in August someone here alerted that there's a $75 off using Paypal (selected account holder).

Yeah the million SLR bodies just magickly exploded when the enthusiasts stampeded to mirrorless, why should we believe CPS and the acre of lenses and bodies they'll take to the Olympics

I don't know the used market for canon, but you can get a two ring 80-200 Nikon for less than this, and it's an f/2.8 lens with better optical quality. I'd look at secondhand pro lenses before resigning your self to this

I said Canon EF mount is dead, not DSLR. Nikon F is alive and kicking. Canon DSLR's use inferior sensor. I switched to Nikon because Nikon uses Sony sensor with vastly superior dynamic range.

What's the cheapest the f2.8 gets? I'll be patient for that one

that's certainly a interesting choice, when you could just switch to Sony, but nope, switch to Nikon because the use sony sensor? and why would Sony not keep the best sensor for their alpha line? (hint, they do)
say what you want about Canon, but having their own CMOS senor is probably going to be the biggest reason they will be around in the next decade when everyone else that relies on Sony sensor will probably just be slowly absorbed by Sony.

Global camera share data 2021
Canon 47.9% (+2.5%)
Sony 22.1% (+1.9%)
Nikon 13.7% (-4.9%)
Fujifilm 5.6% (+0.9%)
Panasonic 4.4% (-0.3%)

Nikon shooter here and their take on the canon EF mount is trash. It's still very commonly used across not just canon bodies but others as well (like black magic). Not to mention the ability to still use EF glass with native adapters with mirror less camera bodies.

It's moisture resistant, but that's not weather sealed — at least to me. Weather sealed is when a lens is advertised as moisture proof and dust resistant like the G2 line, the highest level of sealing offered.
