Yup. I purchased one last week from target, they wouldn't price match as coupons are considered special deals. So I am returning that and ordered this one

Given the age of the game, I'm disappointed that this thread hasn't earned any brief comments/notes from other Slickdeals members with experience. I expect this is a great intro/family game take on Catan, but additional color is always appreciated.

Good luck!

Good intro, worth the price. That said, we got it last year and quickly outgrew it in favor of the full version. Kids were 5 and 7 at the time.

That's what happened to us when we bought tickets to ride kids version. After 4-5 plays kids got into the real ticket to ride

Like most of the junior/my first games, there is an additional element of luck introduced to simplify the strategic elements. The use of a die roll to gain resources can make or break the experience. On a 6, a player can move a ghost pirate to any resource node, which allows that player to block other players from obtaining the resource. On two games I played, the first player immediately rolled a 6 and moved the pirate to another player's starting resource, effectively blocking that player from progressing in the game for a few turns. Not surprisingly, the blocked player lost both times. There are ways to get rid of the ghost pirate, but not immediately at the start of the game.

This game is actually pretty fun to play with young kids.

The limiting factor for us with full Ticket to Ride has been the length of the game. For now the kid isn't able to keep a good rate of play to keep the game within the allotted time for dinner. When a 15 minute game lasts 30 minutes during dinner, we don't really notice. However, our couple of forays into full TTR has dragged on beyond an hour.

Good luck!

We got this as a bday gift for our daughter a few months ago. She hasn't shown much interest but I thought it was a fun version of the game. Most of the elements are still there; trade is simplified in a give a penny/take a penny style, which helps when playing with younger kids.

My 7 y/o likes this game, my 9 y/o I think finds it dull. That said, it's a decent intro to games with more complex mechanisms than just drawing a card.

This is a great price.

No. 8 and 10 will enjoy the full game more. The Junior version is better suited for 4-7yo.
