Are these the new ones? I heard they were going to be brighter than the 60w ones we usually have floating around here

Yeah these are the new ones. Heard there isn't much difference with color brightness with 75W and 100W bulbs. Previous Costco deal was 4 for $100 for the 60W bulbs

I think 75w is as bright as any Hue colored bulb will go. The 100w is very misleading and only applies in white ambience mode.

These also do separate colors simultaneously in the same bulb? I can't seem to find this info as I heard the new ones coming out can do that

Are you referring to the individually addressable light strips? Like for behind a tv?

Only their gradient products display separate colors simultaneously, but you can have different bulbs display different colors. I personally think a gradient lightstrip or their new lamps are the best at seperate colors

Trying to understand why I might want this new set over the previous generation. Any insights?

Really depends on your lighting situation. If you're comparing Costco deals (4 60W for $100), it's a $30 difference but you get brighter bulbs

are these only brighter when using white, or do the colors also shine brighter than the previous version?
