I believe assisted open knives are considered switchblades by NY and hence are illegal. NY allows gravity assist only and no type of spring.

Your hatred is focused on the wrong entity: NY implemented ridiculous, unconstitutional laws, not Amazon.
Amazon is just covering their ass and playing extra nice with a state government that is working to completely disarm it's citizens so that it can then further strip them of their rights.

That law only applies in NYC and not the greater NY state.

But those rules only apply in NYC, and while I'll admit that the majority of NY residents live in or near the city. Those laws don't at all apply to the rest of us.

I don't think that is correct. I can find nothing that supports that. From what I found, it applies to the entire state. NYC does have some more restrictive laws, but that doesn't change the overall NYS knife laws against assisted opening, which NYS considers a "switchblade".
