My wife has reviewed hundreds of art supplies on her YT channel. She unboxed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRP-qxElCto and tested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KopOfHWyj1s this kit. She doesn't like it, but it's probably worth $20. It's hard to find a good art kit for this cheap. She suggests considering the Arteza metalic mixed media set instead, but it will cost you more.

Thanks to you and your family for helping us with the review.

This is why I love SD. I take many of the opinions on here more seriously than most others, so thanks to everyone who contributes.

Edit: by the way I just scanned the review and your wife made a ridiculously good piece of art from this apparently weak sauce kit hahaha

These are good for budding artists, while not the best there was a trend on Twitter a year or so ago with pro artists making some amazing pieces with these sets.

Ordinarily I wouldn't recommend a set like this, but for $20 I could see giving it to a middle schooler or something. For anyone remotely serious, though, I'd suggest a small but high-quality set as a gift.

Thanks!

I'm a high school teacher so this is probably the quality I'd give my kids (I'm a medical teacher not an art teacher for what it's worth). I give them crayola 120 packs of colored pencils and China brand 300-pack gel pens off amazon

Personally for cheap paint I like the liquitex 48 count paint set. It's surprising quality for the price.

My 6yo nephew is into drawing, but I opted for the 140-pc set instead for $30. It has markers and more things he might actually be able to use and less of the pastels and such.

I purchased one for myself but would need to return it. The brushes are worst I have ever seen.

Now to consider if it's worth it to battle the holiday crowds.

A one hour review. That's rough.
