Good deal, but compatible mobo prices kinda kill the value.

Perhaps Intel has far more profitable contractual agreements with PC builders, that easily offset processor discounts of these 12th generations, as opposed to AMD.

Then again; blatantly churning bipolar markets get tiresome... really quick. Now back to your regularly scheduled, overextended duopoly...

I suggest Buy and Hold on to it. Z690 chipset MB's will fall in value.

Do you happen to know if any of them will be ddr4 compatible? Like the Aorus Z690i? I'm specifically looking for a budget ddr4 lga1700 itx board…. Not available right now. Don't want to plunk down $300 for the gigabyte. It's lethal to build in. Too many fins chopping peoples fingers off.

Found this online… future budget board list leaked online. Not sure of pricing but should be considerably cheaper than z690 boards.

If you need something right away, this is the best deal I've found...

Picked one of these up.
In discussing the insane price with the Microcenter guy, he said, "yeah - we're loosing money on these. The idea is for people to come in and buy a complete system".

I looked at the bare shelves stocked with a few clusters of DDR5 only hyper-overpriced boards and nonexistent slots for DDR5 memory.

"But you don't HAVE any complete systems", I said.

He replied, rolling his eyes, "I knoow". Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

$60 more for the same board you get DDR5 support. The P version from the same link. IMO its the best bang for the buck for the next 6months on MOBO

Ddr5 will he here soon, popping up all over the scalper channels right now means shipments are coming in.

Gskill claims they don't use the same power management chips and are not subject to shortages. Good memory company.

The pricing of the 12900k at launch should have been 5900x pricing as well. Atom cores don't make gamers lives matters.

I picked up the 12600k 2 mins before closing. I also picked the dreaded Z690i Aorus DDR4 motherboard. Reviews for this board are terrible. Apparently very difficult to build in and also BIOS issues. I'm just holding it till the H670 and B660 boards start popping up and will promptly return the motherboard if I can get my hands on a good ITX MB.

Got my z390 Gigabyte Master MB for $200 paired with a i9 9900k for $300. Today's MB are a rip off imo.

Will stay on this setup for awhile.
