I think it's still a good phone for $250 but just know there are issues with it.

for $250, this thing has SD865 and 90hz screen for kick ass gaming AND emulation performance (especially using the new free AetherSX PS2 emulator)...the software is basically 90% native android (significantly less customized than samsung's UI)...screen is buttery smooth AMOLED...great battery life...and the tri-camera system is decent, what more can you ask for?
and if you bought the tmobile version like me, just go to settings-carrier options to unlock it immediately, no hassle required...
I got an AT&T locked iPhone 11 for $250 a few months ago, got it unlocked for use on T-Mobile and it runs circles around this device.
however, any 5g capable unlocked phone can theoretically work with all 3 major carriers these days since the technology across the carriers in the US have mostly converged -- only difference being the support bands...

Assuming a phone will run Aether/PCSX2 just because it has a powerful processor is a classic mistake. Raw specs like processor used and how many cameras it has mean almost nothing if the software isn't optimized, and OnePlus' Android 11 software is not optimized at all. For example, OP was releasing phones with 12GB RAM and didn't change their software to account for that, so it acts like you only have 6GB and will prematurely kill apps all the time. 120Hz means nothing if the phone can't maintain a solid 60FPS minimum, and it just can't.
And it's only going to get worse with the Android 12 update, as they're merging OxygenOS and ColorOS, so not only will software performance suffer since you're cramming two OSes with different demographics and design languages together, the OS will no longer allow you to use the GCam ports to make the device's camera serviceable in anything less than stellar lighting conditions.
Hence why I said this would be a good deal if the bootloader was immediately unlockable. Skip the bullshit, switch to a ROM/kernel that doesn't handicap the phone.

but you're grossly bullshitting about these "$250 iphone" or "$300 S10e" when we're talking about a BRAND NEW device to begin with...learn to structure your argument effectively by comparing APPLE TO APPLE (see what i did there?
and performance for emulation on android is COMPLETELY dependent upon the processor/GPU in the phone...OEM UI has very little impact on such a raw performance benchmark...so i can tell you're clueless about this topic despite the lengthy mumbo jumbo
lastly, if you're happy about your $250 iphone, why are you in this thread in the first place? go enjoy the iOS ecosystem, i know i do (i run a iphone 12 max pro as my daily, but i don't go around SD bitching about other deals -- if you don't like it, then leave it alone)

Tbh, I've never found a single use case where I wished I had 5G rather than normal LTE. It's a non-factor to me. But I also don't do irl livestreams or upload ProRes RAW footage in the terabytes to the cloud every day, so YMMV.
If you need a cheap 5G phone, I've seen the Motorola One 5G Ace going for around $210-$230, so that's an option. Has a bigger battery than the OP8 too, and its performance will be similar. Do note Motorola's update situation is as bad as OnePlus', so you lose either way when it comes to security/OS updates.
