OnePlus is a nightmare to deal with. Worst customer support I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Wasted countless hours dealing with support over literally 2 months, had to send my phone in twice and lost a $20 Dbrand skin in the process. Issue was never actually resolved, and they refused to replace the phone. They'll forever be on my shit list now.
Thanks to itxjustin for the steps to make the phone SIM-free (unlocked to use on other carriers).

1. Turned the phone on without sim
---- Connect to WIFI --
2. Went to Settings, Connections
3. Select Network Unlock
4. Select Permanent Unlock
5. Done
6. Update to Android 11
7. Check with a non-TMO SIM to see if you can make and receive calls.
I had this phone for almost a year and a half. It was great at first but now it gives a "not responding" message every so often. Also gets a lot hotter than it used to.... I bought it for $400 awhile ago so I'm not complaining. I love the hypercharge feature, every phone should have it.

I think it's still a good phone for $250 but just know there are issues with it.

No wireless charging except the pro right? What's the lowest ever for the 8 pro?
Probably not too many new phones out there with wireless charging for 249. I'm guessing a new 8 pro would be near double and difficult to find.

It will survive 3g shutdown. I activated a few days ago and it's working fine, and when I put the IMEI in their compatibility checker (Cricket) it says it's good. My old phone says it's not compatible when I check even though it would have still worked until the shutdown. I am, however, not getting 5G speeds, but that's not a deal breaker for me.
So, is that the phone or the network?

Can someone shine some light on network compatibility? I have Verizon but wondering if this T-mobile version can be used (without any drawbacks) on my current verizon network. I went to go check out and noticed that the unlocked versions are sold out and only available model is the T-mobile 1+8.

Considering buying a new phone but not in a rush to do so. Should I be considering this or pixel 5a more?
If you're NOT a big gamer, hands down...Pixel. The better camera, faster and longer software updates, superior support, and better developer community are worth the extra $150.

OnePlus' extra RAM, faster processor and 90hz display won't make much difference in day to day use for non-gamers.

I believe they make a special version for Verizon but I'm not positive. Try and Google it. This model number is " IN2017"

found this on Google. Not the same as T-Mobile

So i perused most of the threads here but just wanted to make sure. I quit tmobile just about 3 weeks ago and went with red pocket mobile a AT&T mvno. Tmobile is spotty and i couldnt get connected at work. With Red Pocket I can always get conntected at work but most places tmobile was a lil faster.

Now getting back to this phone. Would i be able to unlock it with no problems and this phones features will work on the At&T Network?? I was thinking about buying a Samsung 10 plus for around 299 that is open box with a 90 days return policy. What u guys think??

It is weird, Mobile hotspot work on mobile data only. If I turn on hotspot, Wi-Fi is dropped, if I turn on Wi-Fi then hotspots turn off. Do you guy know how to fix it?

Check the specs on this phone for the bands ATT USES .looks like it won't get 5G. I don't know how important that is to you. does the S10 plus get 5g

On 10 October 2017, a security researcher discovered that an OxygenOS system service named "DeviceManagerService" collects sensitive data and sends it back to OnePlus servers. The service collects many data points, including the device serial number, phone number, IMEI, network connections, and timestamped records of user activity within every app. Users can uninstall the system service via ADB.

EEK! timestamped records of user activity within every app. Now talk about trust issues.

That's how hotspot works. There's nothing to "fix"
