OnePlus is a nightmare to deal with. Worst customer support I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Wasted countless hours dealing with support over literally 2 months, had to send my phone in twice and lost a $20 Dbrand skin in the process. Issue was never actually resolved, and they refused to replace the phone. They'll forever be on my shit list now.
Thanks to itxjustin for the steps to make the phone SIM-free (unlocked to use on other carriers).

1. Turned the phone on without sim
---- Connect to WIFI --
2. Went to Settings, Connections
3. Select Network Unlock
4. Select Permanent Unlock
5. Done
6. Update to Android 11
7. Check with a non-TMO SIM to see if you can make and receive calls.
I had this phone for almost a year and a half. It was great at first but now it gives a "not responding" message every so often. Also gets a lot hotter than it used to.... I bought it for $400 awhile ago so I'm not complaining. I love the hypercharge feature, every phone should have it.

I think it's still a good phone for $250 but just know there are issues with it.

I had this phone for one month at the same price. Really no complaints at all except for no microsd card expansion and 3.5mm headphone jacket. And for those who are wondering the curved screen protector, I order some TPU screen protector and it fits perfectly (although I can not say how safe it can protect the screen.)
I'm getting a UV TEMPERED Glass screen from China . It was only $4 so it's worth a try. I have the you one in it right now. Works pretty good until I can try the other one

Bought this phone (for T-Mobile) when it was on sale a couple of weeks ago. Before opening the box, I checked the compatibility with Cricket Wireless using the IMEI showing outside the box. It was compatible. It was very easy to be unlocked following the steps provided by this forum and a message of "unlock is approved" showed up on the screen during the unlocking process. I have used the phone on Cricket Wireless for a few days and haven't encounter any issues with the carrier.

The only problem though is that I found the battery drains much faster than I expected. The battery was 100% upon arrival. I finished settings and 81% battery was left. Then I shut down the phone overnight and only 40% battery left next morning when it was turned on. In the next few days, I turned on the battery saver, adjusted 90-Hz refresh rate to 60-Hz refresh rate, and turned off bluetooth and location, the battery only lasted two days with average of about 2 hours of usage daily (mostly checking webpages and watching one or two very short videos). Does anyone have similar experience on the battery of this phone? Is the battery normal? Not sure if I should return it. Thanks.

Which voucher code did you try? Was it NovoP8?

Try this. It worked for some people

People who have that problem have made an acct with oneplus then went all the way to checkout and left and ONEPLUS sent the a $50 code to their email in about 10 minutes. They went back in and used that code. Might be worth a try.
Yes NovoP8. I received $50 code through email, but NovoP8 code still doesn't work..

Anyone can share the experience with trade-in? I don't see any option under the trade-in tab, it still shows Status: quoted. And they just shipped the phone.
Good luck. They ship the box with FedEx. It took 6 days to get it. I returned the phone the next day to Texas and it took FedEx 7 Days to deliver it. They inspected it the 14th and I haven't heard anything since then.

Hope you have a better experience than I have

E foundation supports this device now for a totally degoogled experience. It takes a week to get the unlock token to flash and unlock the bootloader then it's goodbye big tech.

That's strange because someone else just said they used the code. Maybe try a different computer or use incognito . I don't know what else to tell you. Oneplus didn't send you another code when you didn't fully check out?

Are you sure it's not there already? Did you go to the final page where you complete the order

This is what the other person said who just used the code

At first the code did not apply..but when I went to fill in my address and every other field..it kicked in..also 6% in Bing cash back..and also 1.5% cashback on my credit card too

That was just a special deal on Black Friday sale. I'm still waiting to get it from the trade-in company.
Thank you for clarification. I chatted with them but one got turned down, now said that it will be a bonus after trade-in without any literature on the web pages. it's risky...

If you have Gmail then turn on backup on your LG And backup everything. Then when you set up the oneplus it will baak you if you want to get a backup. You then choose which one and it will do the rest over WiFi.

I believe you can also do it by Bluetooth. I just never have

So i perused most of the threads here but just wanted to make sure. I quit tmobile just about 3 weeks ago and went with red pocket mobile a AT&T mvno. Tmobile is spotty and i couldnt get connected at work. With Red Pocket I can always get conntected at work but most places tmobile was a lil faster.

Now getting back to this phone. Would i be able to unlock it with no problems and this phones features will work on the At&T Network?? I was thinking about buying a Samsung 10 plus for around 299 that is open box with a 90 days return policy. What u guys think??
OK For OnePlus on AT&T the ONLY feature that works is VoLTE. Wifi calling does not work nor does 5G AT ALL and likely ever. This goes for Cricket and any other AT&T MVNO because AT&T is the worst at supporting phones and Cricket even more restrictive. Cricket no hotspot either.

Here is the AT&T list: https://www.att.com/idpassets/ima...etwork.pdf

Now to note AT&T LTE is pretty fast so today 5G doesn't really give you that much, but in 1-2 years that may change. And if you appreciate Wifi calling, then AT&T and OnePlus is not a good match. You can sidestep it somewhat w/ Google Voice but I had found it takes up more battery and I moved over to Samsung which I now regret but that is 20:20.

Use whichever code will work. It's the same amount of $50 right

You might also look into the Cashback that the other guy got from using bing.

I bet next year, folks will be able to trade this phone out for a 9 using similar deals from this year with little out of pocket.
