Hard to believe any real F1 fan is honestly saying finishing the deciding race behind a safety car is better than a final winner take all 1 lap battle between the 2 championship contenders.
Lewis Hamilton fanboys sure are sore losers.
This was the best F1 season by far in the 20 years Ive been watching F1, and the scrappy underdog won in a last lap pass for the championship. Doesnt get any better than that.
You may be right about it not being as exciting, but rules should be rules as compared to just making stuff up to get what was a very predictable finish given the tire situations.
That's like saying that a US football game shouldn't end on a 10 second run-off for an offensive penalty with no timeouts because it's not nearly as dramatic. Yep, it's not, but that's the rules they play by at the time.

Real F1 fans should also know that rules are rules and no one can just make up or change the rules on the spot. No one in this thread has said anything bad about Max or RB, every person who has a decent amount of intelligence will agree that Max is a worthy champion and RB capitalized on a great opportunity, even Toto and Lewis have congratulated them. Stop acting like those comments are targeted towards Max or RB, go enjoy the fact that Max won if you're supporting him, and stop the whining about the well-desevered criticism towards the FIA.
no, nee, nein, non, ...don't think F1, think more WWF1, it liberates the mind, takes the pressure off, and drops this sport into its true dimension. But don't take my word for it. Take, for instance, the upcoming tire change from 13" to 18": "What is important is to have a great show to sell to the world," said Mario Isola, head of F1 and car racing at Pirelli.

That's sounds about right. Entertaining maybe 1 time just because of the bizarreness of it. If he thinks that's sustainable then best of luck. There's a reason why it's not big in the USA. Because sports need integrity here. One minor rule doesn't make sense and it becomes national news here

There are those of us who don't support either of the contenders, and STILL think what transpired was not right.
Max got to pit twice (!) for fresh tires under the SC, and was on brand new softs when he had that "last lap pass", overtaking a guy on 40-ish-lap-old hards, who already had to fight through the lapped cars that Masi allowed Verstappen to simply jump past in order to have that "final showdown" wheel-to-wheel for the last lap.
Not saying it wasn't exciting, but the deck was slightly (heavily) stacked for RB. Red flag it from the get-go, don't let any cars into the pits, and end up with a few laps of real racing to decide the finale. Could've been historic AND fair, that way.
No matter what side your on and I know this is off topic but record breaking season by Max with 10 1st places, 8 2nd places, never been done before, impressive.
I'm waiting to see if there will be more competition whenever Gasly gets a front-line car.

I also feel like Tsunoda is going to be a force next season.. he was P3 at one point in Abu Dhabi, and with all this last-lap drama, gets overlooked for finishing P4! Not bad, rookie!

IMO defending what happened last weekend is like a red flag that maybe you aren't so ethical.
