Own an Instantpot and an Zojirushi NS-TSC10 5-1/2-Cup and have used both for rice.

Incomparable in quality of rice output. Sure the instapot does a lot, but if you want light fluffy perfectly done rice the Zojirushi beats it by miles. Sometimes the instantpot is fine but not fluffy, sometimes its a gooey overcooked mess. All the times the rice cooker is between great and perfect.

Instantpots are not fuzzy logic devices, dedicated rice cookers are constantly reading and adjusting the temperature of the rice and water to be perfect even if your house is cold or your water is warm or you put a bit too much or too little in or your rice is older and drier or younger etc etc.

Sure it takes longer, but I wash my rice before I start cooking, start it, the output tells me the exact time my rice will be done, I start cooking, hopefully everything is done at the same time, but if not the rice cooker has a smart keep-warm function that lets me fluff the rice once, and let it standby for an hour or two without compromising much.

It's so easy I never make/keep extra rice any longer, even leftovers get 1 cup of fresh rice-cooker rice.
I haven't tried the Korean cuckoos so can't compare to that. However, the Zojirushi induction cooks the most consistently decent sushi rice of all the other rice cookers I've tried, including cooking on stovetop manually.
People comparing a Japanese rice cooker with instant pot cracks me up as an Asian.
I have both, they are not even remotely close.
And this is not even the top model Zoji makes, that one is well over $1000 and sold in Asia only

Edit: Buy some Kokuho Rice Yellow or even Rose at Costco, cook with this mf and I bet you can tell the difference even if rice is not your staple

I got that during target deal and I just canceled mine and bought this instead 🤞🏼. If you think about it after those cash back rewards it comes up to $260+. I just hope it arrives before Christmas for my girlfriend gift. 🎄

I would say this is a good product, but, hi, no restaurant is going to use this to cook rice for you. A lady on YouTube compared this product and others. Surely it is better, but not by a lot. I don't think it worth the price

Haha some people are foodies why even comment, just move on. Wouldn't bitch about the shit you spend money on that is probably pointless. Love rice dishes and even I had a WTF moment since I bit the bullet but if this beast can keep rice warm for 24+ hours safely it will be worth it's weight in gold.

Here is a very popular rice cooker from Taiwan

https://www.wayfair.com/kitchen-t...x1002.html

It has an outer pot and an inner pot. You add some water to the outer pot too while adding rice and water to the inner pot. Then, the indirect cooking method uses the water of the outer pot to cook, evenly regulate heat and maintains the nutrients of rice in the inner pot.

It does the job nicely.

This thread is hilarious for the fact that it shows in stark contrast those who know, and those who don't. Sometimes the lines are blurred and nuanced... but this one is Uncle Ben's vs. Tamaki Gold.

So beware of the "wisdom " of the Internet peanut gallery, kids.

I was able to snag one. 10 cup may be a bit much but you don't have to make that much at any given time.

I am not Asian but love rice. I gave a much smaller one that lives on my counter. It is used for both rice and oatmeal in the morning. It will be nice to be able to have one specifically for my morning oatmeal that I can place elsewhere. The 10 cup will obviously be for rice

I just returned the 3 cup IH model as it overflowed and made a mess with steel cut oats when making even half of the max amount using the manufacturer's recipe, so I'd recommend buying a little bigger than you might think you need. I'm holding out for a sale on the 5.5. The removable, washable components and music on start/finish were awesome, esp. when compared to the Costco Tiger model.
