Look up the reviews on walmart. 33% are 1 star reviews. and that was at a $289 price point. Just not worth it.

It's kinda strange to see RCA, a former leader in top of the line television production, reduced to an afterthought (if they're even thought of at all) in the minds of most TV purchasers.

Ugh, I know this is low quality, and I shouldn't buy it, but it is so dang cheap that it is still tempting. It wouldn't be my main TV, just a secondary one for the kids. Maybe it's good enough.

Got it loaded up in my cart. Total price $280. Should I click the button? It's so cheap!

Nope, not gonna do it. Gonna stick with the $450 55" Hisense U6G that I already have on order. Yes it costs $200 more, but it will certainly perform better. Maybe it will last longer too, or maybe not, I dunno. Hisense is still a budget brand, but at least they are the actual manufacturer rather than some unknown manufacturer who has licensed the RCA name.

Just bought. Wanted a cheap TV for the room. don't have a RED card but after-tax $300. Hard to say no. Plus I have 30 days to return it. It's not going to compare to my LG OLED CX as my main tv and it's not supposed to. Didn't feel like paying an extra $100 or $200 more for LG or Samsung. Will give you guys my review in a week or two.

How about Hisense 55" TV R7g5 from Costco for $349? $280 vs $350, anyone with expert advice?

RCA is no longer "RCA"! I mean they went banckrupt and sold "the name" to some company, same as with CompUSA, RadioShack, Solyndra etc..

For the kids? You should have gone with the RCA. Life has moments of disappointments...never too early to learn.

The problem with the last quote is it associates poor quality with low price. It's even greater bitterness when one pays more for and still receives poor quality. At least if a TV fails the day after the warranty expires, you're only out $280 vs. $450.

I picked up a 55" for $300 in 2020 and got more features than the 55" for $800 in 2012. That's how electronics, especially TV prices work. Pay less and get more features with each purchase. Trying to future proof is Impossible.

Hmm.. Local Dimming on the Hisense vs whatever the hell this is.. not even close. I hate LED/LCD screens to start with.. but if you are going to get one.. get local dimming and or /120hz.. definitely worth the price the person paid.

I'll give you the same opinion I gave to folks in 2015 when BB was selling a Toshiba branded 55" for $350.
Circuit City was correct in this case, size matters! And unless you're picky, when you take it home and take the time to adjust the picture settings to your liking, It will do. If it fails the day after the 1 year warranty expires, it will have cost you in this RCA case, around 77 cents per day not including tax. You can then go and buy another TV with probably more features for around the same price, if you had to.

fyi - None of the Toshiba TVs that my friends bought have failed yet...So, for those folks, 7 years later the cost is now down to 14 cents per day owned.

The last hisense I bought lasted 22 months, always was finicky with ARC and wouldn't shift to 4k with the fire stick 4k. The cheap Vizio I replaced it with has none of those problems and included a 3 year warranty if purchased from Sam's club.

I don't think I'll but another Hisense, too many alternatives.

I think the same. It's a disposable product after a few years.

My friend had a ~$2000 Sony (back in 2000 era) and lasted 3 years before giving him issue wouldn't turn on. He has the Best buy warranty. The tech failed to come once wasted his time. The next time he did came basically said he can't fix it. Went back to factory about the warranty and Sony told him they can get him a new TV minus the usage on his ( they didn't want it back) for like $1200. He never bother with it.

Currently I am using a Changhong($350) from ebay. My Vizio died around 2016 and need something urgent. Still running today with no issues.

TCL is the minimum standard.

I would get this RCA just to review it, but my car is not big enough to haul this shit
All these cheap TVs are probably made in the same factory. Half of them have the same legs and frame.
