Seems like a great price, but the last OLED I bought was 3 years ago and I'm not really familiar with the "A" series, anyone know more?

If it was the C1 or CX at this price, then it will be a deal. This is the bottom of the barrel oled. I would say this is a good deal. Not a great one. If it was the C1 or CX or higher then it would be a great deal especially if you have the payboo card and live in a high sale tax state.

Essentially, if you are buying it for watching movies and TV shows or streaming, it would work perfectly fine. The higher end C series has some gaming related features such as HDMI 2.1 VRR and 120Hz refresh rate. The PQ will be identical across both TVs although the C series will have potentially lower judder and slightly better processing.

Even if you do game a lot, you need a powerful device to drive the C series at framerates over 60.

Agreed. I am that rare dude with a 3080 Ti based PC hooked up to my 77" C1. So I utilize g-sync and 4k/120 daily. But I can't imagine that many people have their gaming PCs hooked up to these TVs and have a beefy system. For consoles, VRR is barely utilized and very few games go over 60fps. 99 percent of people would be fine with the a series.

You're right, very few people actually have the gear to run 4K@120Hz... but regardless they demand it and anything else is useless garbage.
It's more of a bragging right.

doesn't need to be a beefy PC, the Series X for 500 bones has a performance mode for alot of games to bump the games up to 120fps. which is why i'm shopping for a TV at the moment. sad to hear this one cant do 120hz. the search continues

Are you guys saying the panel and picture quality is the SAME on this as the C1? I watched some reviews and the C1 shows improvements over the CX even on the screen for movies ,as it has more detail and handles colors slightly better, not a big difference, but vs A series, I thought there would be a difference(/), I dont game, but dont want to limit myself, and in case I or family wants to game , to have the ability(though it sounds like most needs will not demand 120hz), but most important, I use it for movies, some regular tv, and lots of web video and content browsing. Will surely hook up a multi view hdmi box so I can show 2 inputs on the 1 large screen. But I am looking for the crispest, and best picture quality uniformity, etc. I dont like Google or the Android OS's, and no voice control, so a good remote is importnat, yet will likely buy the service remote or a good universal that works with LG..

From Rtings.com review: "Although the TV exposes that it can accept a 120Hz signal, it just skips every other frame, resulting in a 60Hz image."

Thoughts on A1 vs Sony A80j? Specifically for movie watching.

99%? That's stretching it. Everyone with a PS5 or Series X would be missing out on features from the A series.

Can you elaborate a bit?

My 2019 Samsung qled has vrr. I don't use it anymore. 4K 60hz gaming works fine and there's no tearing.

I thought gaming at 4K 120 HZ decreased detail because the console did not have enough horsepower to do high graphics and 120 hertz at the same time.

I think it's more about being future proof. Yeah, most games can't go 120hz now, but they will be in the future. You want to buy a tv that will not be outdated for at least 5 years. If it's for strictly watching movies and shows, buy it.

I've seen my brother play doom eternal on his ps5 with his CX. I'm not even sure it was on 120hz, which is one of the few games that can do that right now, but it looked amazing.
