For those asking if you can use this to top-off or add-to an existing plan, officially you can't, but there's a really simple backdoor to do so:
Go to the tracfone website, log into your existing account, then select Activate -> I'm bringing my own smartphone. Enter the SIM card number, then when it asks if you are porting a number, give it your existing tracfone phone number. Your old number will be moved to this card along with any balance. I've done this multiple times. You'll then need to put this sim into your existing phone.

One caveat: If you're using a tracfone branded phone (which are typically using Verizon-network sims), the procedure is slightly more complex, as it will likely not accept this sim card. What I've done in this case is gone through the procedure above, put the sim into an old unlocked phone to make sure it works, then some time later (eg next day) moved my service back to the verizon sim that was in my desired phone.
It is easiest to activate this on a spare GSM non-Tracfone, i.e., old unlocked iPhone with a new number.

Then ask customer service to move the 1200 minutes, 1200 texts, 3GB data, and 1-year of service over to your other Tracfone.

////////////

This is the message I use when I ask them to do this. Insert your own information where applicable.

//////////////

"Please transfer all minutes/texts/data/service time:

From ###-###-#### (IMEI xxxx xxxx xxxx xxx), zip code #####.

To ###-###-#### (IMEI xxxx xxxx xxxx xxx), zip code #####.

I have a new SIM I will activate (myself) after this transfer is finished."
I was able to add this plan to my current plan/sim last year. Didn't have to change sims or anything. It was considers a "top-up" or addition or my current plan.

It also rolled-over all my texts and minutes and data for another year. So whatever I had left on my account before I "topped up" was added to this plan.

I called customer service to get it added to my current plan.

I DID NOT DO IT ONLINE.

Good for GPS tracking. Take an old Android phone, download an old GPS SMS app (Google Play has banned most of them - so you'll have to find it on APK sites), and bury it somewhere behind the panels in your car.

Every two weeks, recharge it. Instant car lojack.

I buy this deal every year around the holidays.

Great idea, obviously you have nice cars. People that drive clunkers have no such worries.

Many old cars are easily stolen. I come from a blue collar existence and town. I know people who have had their clunkers stolen multiple times.

Even modern Kia and Hyundai cars recently have had their keyless starts broken.

The Redpocket 200/1000/200 per month annual plan for $30.00 will be a better deal for some but the T-mobile network can kill it.

this is when you wire in a hidden switch for the fuel pump, while they might get the car started, they wont get far before it stops. laugh out loud

I looked everywhere on tracfones website and couldn't find if their plans include mobile hotspot or not.

Anyone know?

I know last year THIS PLAN DIDNT support mobile hotspot.

I'm planning on using this service with an iPhone.

Thanks in advance.

I have an active Tracfone 1 yr plan expiring soon. Anybody know if I can use this to extend my plan for another year (similar to other thread) by activating this SIM and replacing the one I have in currently?

Can I transfer my current number onto this SIM during activation or is it only for new subscribers?

Be aware, i bought this & had to jump through all,kinds of hoops to get them to add it to my already activated TracFone. They wanted to give me a refund, but i had already waited 3 months to activate it, so the refund period had passed & had to raise hell to get them to finally add everything to my current plan. I read a review where someone else had this experience on ebay, so i know it's not just me. Just wanted to share so someone else may avoid this horrible experience. If u already have an active TracFone number, it could be a hassle to get them to add it, because they say it's for new activations only.

It definitely depends on what representative you get. I did not have this experience. I had to activate the new SIM & they still didn't want to give me the things this came with,, claiming it was fkr new activations only & told me to get a refund. It was too late for a refund, so i kept complaining over 2 months & finally got them to add it. Definitely a huge hassle that i wouldn't do again.

While I may not remember it 100% correctly,

I KNOW FOR SURE I was able to get it added.

I MAY HAVE had to activate the new sim and transfer my account/number/minutes etc. over to this new sim. And then have them activate the new sim to my phone "marry them together" My representative was really helpful.

Full disclosure. I was already using a locked Tracfone phone, and was on this same 365-day plan before I added this plan to my current service.

Worst company ever when you returned your phone and didn't get the status. Customer service is worst.
