This Dell Inspiron 5402 is a MUCH better deal: https://deals.dell.com/en-us/memb...etail/c3th

Click "Get this deal" and the actual price in cart comes to $305 (decline the premium support). Compared to this Asus you get:

- IPS or equivalent display (wide viewing angles) - not stated for the ASUS, which strongly suggests it's TN
- Half the RAM, but it's easy to open up, and you get 2 SODIMM slots
- Full-service USB-C with display and Power Delivery (ASUS is data-only)
- Intel WiFi 6
- Backlit keyboard
- Nice build quality with aluminum lid and keyboard deck
- Lighter at 3.2 lbs
- Way larger battery (about 45% more capacity)

All for $25 less, which more than covers the cost of the SODIMM. In every other way, the Dell is a MUCH nicer laptop.

Looks like same bad design as in past. Hinge is under LCD and will break the screen that they won't cover under warranty.

Probably just like that other deal at Office Depot with one slot open and other is soldered. This looks like just a 14" version of it.

If it's like the display 15" one they had at Office Depot it had a bit of flex at the base where hinge is when you open or close. Definitely not good hinge cause it's too stiff.

There is one SODIMM slot that supports up to 32GB of DDR4 memory.

Not bad. The CPU is faster than any I3 prior to Gen 11. The 1125G4 is definitely faster. Gen 12 looks to be a big improvement as well.

At least it is upgradable.

Fact is for most people this is plenty fast. For those who want more I suggest waiting a month for the 12th Gen to come out. Most likely we will see better prices in January.

Google search by model number. Fairly slow RAM. Supposedly 4GB soldered.

This seems good on paper, although some of those posts about the hinge make it seem like it might have a design flaw. Nice find OP.

A whole 128gbs?

Didn't know you could even get them so small…
I'm lucky if I even use that.

Asus Vivobooks have had some issues with a hinge mechanism. The hinge/lcd on mine shattered to pieces. It wasn't this Gen, but barely used the tablet mode lol
