I'm not sure if you're trying to correct my choice of words or the actual information, but you get 5% off your purchase using your red card regardless of the price. When I'm in store I get a price match then 5% is taken off when I swipe my Target red card. Online, I get 5% off the full price using my red card and the discounted amount is credited back to me. With this game, I was given 5% off the full price ($1.50) making the game even lower.
I bought 2 copies to play with a family member and I was a bit underwhelmed. This is also my first time playing the series so I didn't know what to expect going into it.
When playing online, you work independently to beat your friend's (or a stranger's) recent score. I haven't played couch co-op yet but I suspect it's different and you play at the same time using one screen.

So in essence you get it from Target for the same price.

Both times I have attempted price matches. The math doesn't add up to what it should be.
This last time I did it for Mario Kart. They only offered $10.45 after the red card already applied $2.55.
I canceled that order to see what discount I would get using a different (non-red card) CC and the discount was $13. Came out to the same total as above with the red card applied.
Did you price match in store? Maybe that is the difference. Mine have been app purchases with phone/chat price matches.

In my case, they let me keep the 5% discount from the game's full price and did the same with two separate orders I price matched last week.
Here's my receipt: https://i.imgur.com/CHO4OYF.png
I think it's reasonable to reach back out to their support via chat and find out why they essentially removed your 5% discount when they did the price match. That's the whole point of using a red card after all so that doesn't sound right to me!

I'm 0 for 2. I'll give it one more shot next time.
Thanks for sharing!
I chatted with two representatives but no luck. I finally placed an order at Best Buy with the same 5% cash back via PalPal using a chase credit card.
There's a demo out in eShop. We love that there's a tabletop mode for two where you sit on opposite ends on the switch and use just the touchscreen
