The touch response/accuracy is VERY good and even "free" songs are quite good.
Also, IF you feel like paying to get more songs/characters, CHEAPEST method to get them all is to do "google play pass", it will be $4.99/mo or free if you have not done trial before. You can unlock all characters and songs that are currently available for less than $5 which is a good deal considering just unlocking 1 character is often $9.99, once synced to cloud, you can drop the play pass and the characters will still be yours to keep.

No pop up ads (other than very occasional announcement of upcoming games/sales), no loot boxes (but you have to play songs and do some achievements in order to unlock some of the songs).
Quick games you can just play occasionally when bored. However, you'd likely need consistent regular practice to get good. I can't beat any of the high level difficulties. But I've beat dozens if not hundreds of levels and there's still plenty of free content for me.
