My bedroom is on the second floor. My Wife likes the bedroom excessively cold. Like mid 60's

In order to have the bedroom cold enough for her, the rest of my house would also need to be that cold at 3am.

I had an older window unit, but have since replaced with one of these Midea smart units.

Shortly before bed, I'll tell Alexa to "turn on the bedroom". Within a few minutes the bedroom becomes a meat locker.

Plus, energy savings is through the roof.

Be warned, I have 2 of these units I got from home depot last fall. One of them wouldnt turn on this spring. That was after using it for about 45 days here in Maine (we dont need ac much into the fall).

They are replacing it under warranty, however its up in a second floor loft with just a shipladder to get up there, now i gotta get it down.

The error code it displayed after googling was very common.

The ONLY thing people have to remember is that you need to look at your windows. IF you have sash lifts, they need to be on the outer part of the window or the window will not slide into the AC opening. Otherwise, it is a great unit.

I re-installed & used my 12K (paid $340+tax) again a few weeks back because of some unseasonably warm spring weather (mid 80s), so far so good after a few months of use last year too. These both basically just sip energy - especially compared to running my central air, the 12K can generally manage to keep my whole house tolerable by itself!

I'd be curious to see/hear the 8K in use - people that have both have said the 8K is quieter. The 12K does tend to have some oscillation that can be noticeable at certain (mid-range) operational levels, but it overall it's a very nice-running unit.

12K BTU's minimum cooling level bottoms out around 90W and typically tops out around 400-500W, but it can go higher when particularly hot out (I think I've seen it top out around 800W). Anyone know the wattage range this 8K runs at?

I have this and the 12k. The best units I've ever had. By far. They're both the same size, but super quiet. The 8k I can't even hear at all on low air. You will not be disappointed. Low energy consumption too. I installed by myself in about and hour, but the manual recommends two people when lifting out the box. Just watch the video a few times, it's very helpful

I haven't even received my 12k one yet from the Memorial Day sale. 🤦 ♂️ this would be better for me. Buy & return?

Anyone know if this is the 2024 version? Just had a new facia from what I can surmise, but curious if anyone can confirm.
