In order to have the bedroom cold enough for her, the rest of my house would also need to be that cold at 3am.
I had an older window unit, but have since replaced with one of these Midea smart units.
Shortly before bed, I'll tell Alexa to "turn on the bedroom". Within a few minutes the bedroom becomes a meat locker.
Plus, energy savings is through the roof.
They are replacing it under warranty, however its up in a second floor loft with just a shipladder to get up there, now i gotta get it down.
The error code it displayed after googling was very common.

Assuming that I can slide the unit onto a cart and store this in a closet, would the bracket and weatherstripping also detatch fairly intact, or would I need to redo it all every year?
I'd be curious to see/hear the 8K in use - people that have both have said the 8K is quieter. The 12K does tend to have some oscillation that can be noticeable at certain (mid-range) operational levels, but it overall it's a very nice-running unit.
12K BTU's minimum cooling level bottoms out around 90W and typically tops out around 400-500W, but it can go higher when particularly hot out (I think I've seen it top out around 800W). Anyone know the wattage range this 8K runs at?
I originally had a 12k but returned for the 8k when it came back in stock last time just for the lower energy use. I know they're inverter variable speed but the 8k better for my particular room with sizing, run time and humidity.

For comparison, my Midea 12K similarly cools at a minimum of just over 100W, but spikes to 700W, but is usually at 350-400W when it's hot.

So, I save up to perhaps 18kWh of energy every day by not running the central A/C as much. That's offset by the energy that the Midea units use, but that might only be 6-8kWh between them. Still, I end up using much less energy over the course of the day, plus I'm hoping that we're extending the life out of the central A/C. We have a budgeted/averaged electrical bill, and since the Midea units have been in, our bill is about 25%+ less, so the Midea units have paid for themselves.
We've recently added a Midea Duo 10000 btu portable unit to a particularly warm kids' room (HOA won't allow window units on the front of the house). It's pretty efficient for a portable, but it's physically large and uses about 300W in cooling mode and 430W in dry mode. I would have much rather put in another window unit.

And wow I freaking love inverter design now.
So darn quiet and so little power
I set it to 80 degrees and it rarely draws more than 150 watts, sometimes only 100 watts, I have a kill-a-watt on it 24/7 so I look at it sometimes.
My only complaint is you can just forget about ever cleaning it, that roller fan is going to get filthy with dust and mold and whatnot and there is no way to remove it to clean it ever.
If anyone has a fix on getting a good seal lmk!

It's super cheap to run and was definitely worth the purchase, though if I had to do it again, I'd probably have purchased the 12000 BTU
