I posted a deal for a Kreg pocket hole jig a couple weeks ago, and a commenter they picked up a Massca M2 for $80 during Black Friday. I couldn't find that deal on here, but $90 seems close.

camelcamelcamel shows the historical lowest price on Amazon to be $100.

The review is spot-on!

I bought it last year directly from Massca after seeing many good things said from various youtubers. Terribly disappointed with the M2 at the end.

The build etc are solid, all metal, feels premium, but if you ever try drill cross the grain pocket holes, Massca always leaves a mess, with all the wood splinters on the side of the holes, as shown in the video, no exception (worse with soft woods). (see https://youtu.be/23c1Vv3F82M?t=1006)

I too thought it was a drill bit problem, I contacted Massca directly, they don't accept returns, promised me to send another drill bit to test out, I never received anything. just poor customer service.

I ended up getting a K5 on clearance. It drills much cleaner holes cross the grain. I experimented with using the kreg drill bit with Massca, still not getting clean holes. It's the problem with the system, not the drill bit.

Like many others, I really hate the plastic build of all Kreg jigs, that's why i went for M2 in the first place. but Kreg's version just drills cleaner holes. At the end of the day, that all that matters. There are sometimes clearance deals on K5 if you can get it cheap, close to M2 price. Or if you feel adventureous, go and test for some other systems.

What good does a premium build do if it can't do the job well? Until Massca figure out problem, it's not worth it.

Massca > KREG

Now, I got another M2 for their $80 deal, but it hasn't gotten to me yet. They just shipped it out a few days ago (due to the shipping backup in Cali). Luckily it was for me, and not for a gift to give someone.

All in all the Massca just makes a better product, and $50 less than the Kreg. To me the Kreg brand has a lot of low tier garbage. It's just cheap, and in the end, it will not last long. It has cool features, but that means nothing if it will fall apart after using it. If Kreg were to make an exact copy of the M2, I'd assume it'd sell for $199.

In the end Kreg is for people that don't research, or follow their favorite YouTube personalities (paid) advice. So do your research.
I think Kreg is a little overpriced but its definitely not junk. Built two kitchens worth of carcasses, bunk bed, step stools, kids desks, and built-ins with a Kreg K4 and it hasn't fallen apart yet. The only thing that did is the square drive bit, but an impact ready one is a better replacement.

Wow. This is sure a bummer. I almost buy one until reading you post and watching that YouTube review. Then started to pay attention to the splinter in other YouTube video. I think it is a real shortcoming. I think I will hold on before buying.

I've had both. I kept the keg because it worked better. A hunk of metal is nice but a hunk of plastic that performs better than that hunk of metal? Sorry, going plastic every time.

This is a hit or miss manufacturing problem. The opening at the bottom is too large and sloppy for those with this problem. You can fill the hole in the bottom up with epoxy and drill it back out to get the same result as Kreg. You can also just spray the drill bit top with silicone aerosol and put it in backwards before filling in the space with epoxy. Leave the epoxy slightly proud so you can file it down flat later. This concept is no different than the sacrificial fence/bed for saws and routers.

I've used Kreg quite heavily for years. They are very durable and does a good job. Can't say it is better than Massca (since I've never heard of them) but Kreg is great.

I have to wholeheartedly disagree about the pocket hole jigs, very solid and I've put mine through the paces. That said I hadn't heard of this brand, and the research steers me clear.

Purchase a Castle TSM 12 benchtop pocket cutter instead of this low quality garage.
